a buddy i went to school with lives in rustin la. he called me yesterday because a local station showed an interview with mathieu. he wants to talk to the steelers because he thinks that organization would be good for him and he would love to learn from troy. he thinks their games are similar or he wants them to be. i have heard that he will go in 4th or 5th. any chance we take him? the kid can play but i dont think we will even have him on the board unless he pulls a mike adams. i did see an interview on espn where he said he knew that testing would be part of his deal and he has been and plans on staying clean. i know he has to say that though

After Rainey I don't think the Steelers will be drafting anyone with characterissues

I don't know if Mike Adams' contract has any stipulations to it to make sure he behaves himself. Could they do that for Mathieu? Pass all tox screens, behave in public, could make for a cheaper contract, lower rounds?

Yet Colbert said something to the effect that for the right player they'd be willing to take a chance on someone with issues.

I would take him in the 7th or as an undrafted rookie free agent.

I dont think he makes it that far. i would be surprised if he gets out of the 5th or 6th. are you saying you wouldnt want to take a mid round pick on him?

The honey badger was juicing while at LSU, it just wasn't weed. We never heard the whole story why he got kicked off LSU's team. LSU didn't want the investigation. No one is going to tell me any different either.

Hell no let him go to the Bengals. The Steelers can't afford any players with character issues after last season that knucklehead Rainey was a wasted pick.

No thanks. He is a player both on and off the field. This FO's MO will not allow them to draft him.

did you see it showed the top 10 fastest db's since 2000? we had two guys on that list as FA's. justin king and demarcus vandyke. both with starting expierience.

    mt's lookin for a safety. surely.

While I am not interested in drafting the Badger as early as I think some teams will, my recollection from when I watched him play is that he had an "it" factor on the field that just jumped out at you - almost Troy-like in his ability to anticipate and make splash plays. The tape doesn't lie. The guy can play the game, and can probably be a killer slot corner and return specialist. My big concern is whether he'll stay clean, and I would probably downgrade him more than most teams for character issues.

there was also alot of talent around him at LSU too. time will tell. of course he will say he's doing all the right things now. he stands to make alot of money or not. he had a big time situation in college too but blew that. smart guys would have taken advantage of that situation before it got to the point it did.

Waking up to fill the cup at 4:30 AM for the forseeable future could change his priorities.;)

sure it could, but i'm saying to let it get to that point of kicked off the team, when he had the oppourtunity thousands of guys would want is not to smart. something should have triggered a sensor in his brain to say whoa dude, what the heck are you doin. they also interviewed him and he said football is not my main focus right now it doing the right thing and getting himself fixed. i want a guy thats fixed and concentrating on football for this team. i wish the kid luck but it doesn't mean i want to hire him. same as te'o. i want a guy that's focused and not distracted. or a distraction for anyone else on the team because of them.

Good point. I would want his future employment prospects to be part of "getting his head fixed".
