Gonna be 38. Not excited by this at all. Happy for him and very thankful what he did for Pittsburgh!!!!!

No doubt he still has Hockey left in him but youth rules in the NHL. Didn't we miss the Playoffs last 2 years?

Sid deserves a stake in the franchise once he hangs em up. The amount of money he has left on table when you look at all of his contracts just because of always taking the 8.7 mil. Meaning he's left 50-60mil on the table to make the team better. You don't see this often in he NFL. Brady did it and look at his career.

Yes, but Crosby had a great year last year. He played all 82 games and had 42 goals, and 52 assists. He's still one of the hardest working players in the NHL and keeps himself in incredible condition. My biggest issue with the Pens is that Sullivan refuses to trust younger players and keeps giving vets that are just earning a paycheck too much ice time. They need to be getting younger overall, but especially in their bottom six where an infusion of youth can help turn the tide. They made a mistake not trading one of, if not both Malkin and Letang after the '19 season to get some youth and draft picks back into their system. Plus, they have too much talent on the power play to for it to be as bad as it has been the last few seasons. All of this has added up to them missing the playoffs, but I have trouble pointing the finger at Sid. He's still playing the game at a very high level.

Well said! He was great last season. I just don't see them as any type of threat with what Sid has to work with. So many I know have been saying Malkin should have been used for youth. Letang is actually my favorite Pen. I'd have hate seeing him go. Hindsight 20/20 but if Pens did keep the youth movement going by trading them Sid would be a great leader and I bet we'd still be in that amazing Playoff streak.

There was a ton of joy and a ton of heartbreak during that 16 year run. After the 2 Cups they started getting KO'd in early round of Playoffs. Amazing run! Steelers had some good Playoff runs. I think the 70's was every year. I guess it's the Pirates turn.
