Even really good QB's in Burrow (164 yards 0 TD's 0 INT) and Herbert (144 yards 1 TD 0 INT) had low yardage totals. I know that the Chargers are going to try to run the ball a lot more and Cincy just blows out of the gate every year, but the QB play around the league (even with some really good players) struggled. The cream will rise to the top over the coming weeks. Who can be consistent? Who can throw in a couple big games?

The guy isn’t a backup. He’s been a starter. There shouldn’t be jitters. He played ok. Rather have him than Wilson, but neither is taking us far into the playoffs

Like i said before, shortening preseason, the first few weeks are not going to be great for a lot of teams. Will be the new norm

Now lets see what Kyle Allen can do. More or leas jk but I did like what I saw from him in preseason. Should he be 3rd string?

offenses in general, dragged over the weekend. Limited pre-season, etc.

    to be expected.

17 games, defenses have an advantage early in the year.

bodes well for us, let's hope we steal another win on Sunday, w GREAT D and Boswell!!

we won't be seeing what Kyle Allen can do in 2024 unless Fields get injured.

Kyle Allen is probably the best #3 team QB in the league. He has had 19 career starts and in his one year as a starter with a bad Panthers team he went 7-9.

I think as long as we keep winning even if it's only scores like 15-10, Fields remains the starter. It's kind of like last year when Rudolph came in for an injured Pickett and kept the job because we were stacking wins.

depends - always - on HOW we win.

What if Fields fumbles the snap 3 times and throws 2 INT's.

BUT the D returns 2 pick 6's and we have 2 punt returns for TD - and the Steelers win 28 - 27.

    Pundits are stupid.

This is why Dan said if they win and their offense is functional enough

Fields performance was basically what we have been watching for the last few years in Pittsburgh. Good enough to win as long as the defense forces turnovers and keeps the score low. That's not good QB play. That's just not F'ing it up. If we were playing the chiefs or niners everyone would be begging for Wilson .

It's a well known fact that Cousins is a slow starter . Ask any vikings fan. He was always garbage to start the season. IMO our defense did what it always does....Watt forced them into mistakes... and we capitalized on BAD QB play. if Watt is making plays we are good.... if Watt isn't playing then we are mediocre at best. Our offense couldn't score a TD.... we did get jobbed by the refs but still highly doubt we would have scored a TD... the FG's just would have been shorter. We were good enough to get FG's. not good enough to score 3 or 4 TD's which is usually needed to beat playoff teams. Even if our defense proves to be a top 5 defense..(which certainly is possible). we still need a couple TD's out of the offense each week. Unless 8 to 9 wins is our goal...then sure... Fields was awesome.

Steelers may not have scored a TD but 100% would have kept their TD off the board. Definitely a 7 point swing, possibly a 10 point swing or even a 14 point swing. Either way, Watts denied sack, strip and fumble recovery would have made a big difference. It would have been terrible for the Steelers to lose that game to only once again have the useless apology afterwards.

True, but he also isn't the guy you want as your starter. Things have gone very wrong if he starts a game this season.

Nothing official yet. I think Fields plays but wouldn’t be impossible for Tomlin to go to Wilson. He was named the starter, wouldn’t be like benching Fields, just going back to the starter.

However Wilson never started a game here so I think Tomlin will stay with Fields and see if he continues to improve.

Fields seems like a fine young man and he is extremely athletic

But for me he doesn’t pass the eye test as having the “it” factor

I hope he proves me wrong
