They were stopped, but I think it was the right call to go on fourth down but the play calling and the formation on that play was bad

    Your thoughts?

Well, I thought it was stupid. Take the 3, and make it an 8 point game. Even if a miracle happens for the Falcons, they score a TD and convert the 2, at worst you go to OT

I'd have kicked the FG. Force them to have to score 8 points to tie.

loved the idea to go for it, but call the TIME OUT. 7 mins left, had your TO's , USE THEM.

they rushed, looked sloppy. slow down, call the right play, get the first down and maybe end the game right there.

I agree take the time out get the playcall right and the right personnel. Put Harris and Warren or Harris and Patterson at the wings, see if Atlanta is playing the sneak or not and if they are you have the perfect option QB out there and two guys that can power past a DB if need be.

If it was 4th and goal OR there was 2-3 minutes left, I'd have gone for it.

But, as it was, getting a first down did not guarantee a TD and there was so much time left that running the clock wasn't really a huge factor.

Agreed...no clue why they were so rushed on that play.

You need to be in the shotgun in this situation when you have 3 WRs in short yards situation....From the start,it was a bad idea to have 3 WRs in this situation....even the play before on 3rd down and 2,can't have Austin as blocker on any play!!!

Just another example of clock management by the great clock manager.

The way the defense was playing, good call. It also would have likely ended the game. The issue is the play call at that moment was bad because QB communication to the team was off. No one heard the play call. Likely an issue because Russell Wilson was suppose to be the starter that week and maybe they didn't practice it with Fields.

The issue with Fields is he isn't very bright. I'm sorry to say. I don't know how much he can diagnose but it seems to be an issue on why he cant process **** fast enough. And Tomlin seems to put too much trust in his players to do the right thing. That's an issue Tomlin has had forever and what likely kills him in a lot of these types of games when he plays against an elite QB.

It was beyond stupid. Should have kicked the FG then and went up by 8. Yeah, Falcons had time to tie with 2 point conversion... but with the way the Steelers D was playing, it was a justified risk.

I prefer to be agressive on fourth down that being too passive

Our defense was playing awesome. The right call was to take three points and make it an eight-point game. Chances were slim that they could get into the end zone twice to get the eight points.

That said, I do like the call to go for it as it signals a more aggressive Pittsburgh play style. I think we need that. What I did not like was that the play look like it was half baked. In that specific situation with the players we have, it's damn near as good as Philadelphia's tush push. We should have easily been able to get that first down. But I think our trying to rush the play led to the failure of the play.

The raiders have punt down 16-10 on fourth down and 1 in chargers territory with 7 minutes left....It was just awful

I'd kick the fg but like others have posted, taking a time out if going for it would have been so much smarter. You can't catch the D off guard if your people are all mixed up too.

Could not listen to that guy for more than a minute, like fingernails on a blackboard, lol. From what I saw most of those decisions were on many different situations. Being aggressive is fine, but you also have to play play smart. I did not mind the call, but as others have said, call a time out and take a good look at everything, call the right play or take the pts. I don't think either decision would be necessarily wrong, but the way it was done was wrong IMO.

I didn't hate the call to go for it, hated the play call though. We rushed and didn't really call something we liked.

Tomlin did this exact thing in the playoffs against the Browns at home, down 2 scores.... what a decision.

MT gets excited and thinks like a player instead of like a coach in those situations. call the TO. the only person he fools is himself.

I would have kicked fg. Go up by 8 and make falcons score a td and a 2 point to tie. Better odds of winning

I didn't mind going for it there. I don't even mind not calling a timeout. My problem was with execution. Players were rushed and unprepared for the situation. Situations like that are prepared for at practice. I could almost give Fields a pass for being the backup, but he's practiced a heck of a lot more than Wilson has.

Well, if you are a believer in such things, analytics say you kick the FG:

(but it's not like a night vs day decision)
