Do you think we would have won more SB’s with Belicheck and Ben?

The lone issue I always had with Tomlin outside of his recent issues with coaching hires and inability to develop a QB or Offensive Line is his long leash with players and coaches and in particular star players.

I feel like in some ways that has undermined his success. Obovuisly Belichek was completely different in his style from Tomlin being very strict on each and every player and coach. The issue is not every player and every coach can thrive in that environment. In fact especially with QB’s it can be detrimental to their development.

Do you think Belichecks style would have worked in Pittsburgh with Ben? If so how many more Superbowls do you think we could have won?

Belichek is the most over-rated coach in history, thanks to Tom Brady.

A wilted head of lettuce and Ben would have won more super bowls. Steelers team won in spite of Tomlin. Once he had his full stamp on the team, it was never really a contender, just a winning record pretender. We've been a joke the past 10 years, a team that ALL other teams HOPE they draw in the playoffs.

If Belichick would have accepted not to be the GM like he was with the Pats, no doubt the Steelers would have had more success, especially in the Killer B's era.

Had 1 winning season in Cleveland. Along comes Brady and he is the cat's meow. Brady leaves, he sucks once again.

    GREAT PLAYERS MAKE GREAT COACHES!!

IMO Steelers had best team in AFC the year Jaguars came into the Burgh and embarrassed us. If we had Billy boy I say we do go to the SB that year. All speculation of course.

Add Gronk and whatever underrated short white boy WR lighting it up.

    Of course Randy Moss helps.

I wouldn't call Belichek overrated though the man deserves credit for getting the group together.

This comes from a person that despised the patriots as in that era they always seemed to have the Steelers number even with pretty good teams

I think you could certainly debate this with certain coaches, but specific to Belicheck, I’m not sure how that would have worked out.

I feel like players worked within the Patriots system, on script and on cue. Ben was well known to go off-script and improvise (with both Cowher and Tomlin).

Ben and Bill would not have worked .Ben was un-coachable and Billa sh. t was a discipinarian and would not have put up with bens schoolyard style of playing . Mike did not coach or discipline Ben and sheer talent was what won for us. Loved Ben but he could have been much better if his head was as big as his heart , not saying he did not have a big head but that it was filled with ego not football knowledge . The 'buddy " style of tomlins coaching hurt much more than it helped ,it also kept Ben staying too long , which put us in the bad qb position we are currently in , one qb past his prime and one with happy feet and old fans like me not so happy .

Ben was able to play in a system as we see when he was older under Todd Haley.

I think you need both. He built the foundation of the Baltimore Ravens. When they moved to Baltimore they were good nearly instantly. That had Belichecks hand prints all over it. He is great at building the trenches and the defense. No other coach has been able to coach defensive backs like him. But on the same token he defiantly is overrated. A coach like that needs a great OC and QB. If Tomlin were more organized and structured in alot of ways he could have been more like Belicheck. One thing for sure they both suck at developing QB’s.

If you preach to Steeler fans you should use this for your sermon. I didn't look at it that way but it makes sense.

Ben and Don Coryell (Air Coryell) might have had some fun together. Probably a lot of other HC's who would let Ben be Ben but with Billipoop it would have been fire and ice.

Andy Reid would been the perfect head coach for Ben.Reid has had a lot of success with different QBs in his career and he was able to have a good DC for a good part of his career

Belichik would not have put up with Ben’s antics. Brady came in every year fit and prepared. Can’t say that about Ben. It would have been a short-lived relationship

Yet beats Tomlin like a drum even without Brady…hmmm 2-0 vs popcorn without Tommy… really doesn’t say much about coach shades does it?
Hell you want another one? Worst qb in NFL Zac Wilson came to the burgh and beat us, trailing by 10 in 4th qtr at that.

I recall the Steelers blowing the Patriots out when Brady missed the season with a torn ACL in 2008 and the Pats had Matt Cassel (and won 11 games with Cassel)

Basically it’s just another opportunity to bash Tomlin.

I dont know about Belicheat, i have a hard time imagining him as a steelers coach. Cowher who was more of a disciplinarian than tomlin got alot out of a young Ben

i dont like Tomlin’s buddy buddy type coaching. I still think Nolls no nonsense but fair coaching is the best - but i dont know if it would work with todays sensitive, spoiled and entitled athletes.
