I'm not advocating for Cousins either, too old and too expensive. Still, I'd take him over anything we have right now. The only success the Steelers have ever had at QB is through the draft, but going 9-8 every year isn't going to get us a top tier QB. As bad as it may sound, they need to go 6-11 or 7-10 to get a top 10 draft pick. The perpetual state of mediocrity is killing us in the draft

he has been unimpressive his entire tenure here. can't stay healthy, can't block well, average route runner and pass catcher... i don't see any reason why we should resign him unless it's a bargain deal.

thats the sad truth, to find a QB in the draft (as you stated usually a top 10 pick), have the CAP to build around him for a couple year window, then after you pay him, rebuild through good drafts and keeping strategic players. There are other ways, the Rams won a SB trading for an older QB, traded the house over the years, no 1st round pick for years, won the SB, were supposed to be cellar dwellar last year in a rebuild, and on my look what happened, now poised to make another run before Stafford is at the end. So it can be done, but that success is built on a management and coaching staff that are absolutely first class.

I'll give Omar props, his draft picks have looked promising, he is not following the familiar Steeler way to or by the letter. but so damn tired of mid tier.

I think Omar has done a great job in the draft so far too, but he's not going to get a franchise QB drafting at #20 every year. Guess I'm just stating the obvious again. Stafford is pretty rare, he was the missing ingredient the Rams needed, and it paid off for them. The Steelers have a lot more holes to fill than just QB

With this Defense and Arthur Smiths system I am confident we can be a really good team. You don’t need a top tier QB for this system. We will win 10 plus games this year even with this schedule.

Bottom line is they played the season with 3 BU QB’s as starters.

Steeler fans really overhype Muth. Guy is a middle of the pack NFL tight end and one who is rarely healthy.

More in the direction of Jay Cutler when he wanted out of Denver. It’s starting to get clear that Niners have a deal for him but he just doesn’t want to be there. And the Niners don’t want him to go.

At some point if you are the Niners, you have to unload a guy who doesn’t want to be there. You won’t get his full effort.

I need to see more of Pickens route tree, before I appoint him a top WR #1 option.

If DJ/Aiyuk was on this team I would consider Pickens WR #2.

I disagree but we’ll find out this year. Steelers fans have short memory spans. Already forgot Muth has played his entire career with Pickett and Canada and that’s what you want to judge his body of work on.

The injuries are exaggerated. He had those two early concussions which set the tone for him but he really hasn’t missed considerable time, think last year was the most he missed.

More likely he used the Steelers to get a better offer from the 49ers. We’ll know soon.

I’ll give you the terrible OC and QB play but he can’t block at all which basically puts him notches down.

Well played Brandon Aiyuk. The 49ers were going to let him play out the fifth year option, now he gets paid.

I don’t think he ever had any intention of playing elsewhere tbh

The owner wanted him. When the owner wants something you best strive to make it happen.

Just like Art II wants a playoff win. I wonder what will happen if they don't accomplish that:

He’s not a good blocker but thats not why you draft players like Muth. Most of the receiving TE’s aren’t very good at it. He wasn’t terrible his first season but has gotten worse it seems. Last year he was completely whiffing on blocks. Hopefully they clean that up a bit, he just has to be adequate at it.

Not saying he's better than the rest, but Kyle Allen didn't look terrible in this offense last week. A bad throw to Austin but for the most part not bad. Would he be worth keeping and moving up by next year? System's can make a difference. The lions took the rams cast off and built a team around him and it's looking pretty good there. I wouldn't mind building like they did. We have a good start so far under kahn. Purdy wasn't night sought after bit got his shot. He took advantage of it.

I'm not worried about Russell Wilson, they don't need him to be a star just be a game manager.

And what other team in the AFC is so elite besides the Chiefs? The Bills and Ravens both lost a lot in the offseason, the Bengals defense was trash last season I'm not sure they have done enough to fix it.

The Steelers have like 10 quality NFL OL, I said if they got Aiyuk they would still be below the Chiefs.
