My desire for starting lineup :

    Offense

    QB- Wilson
    Rb- Najee
    Wr1 - Pickens
    Wr2 - Wilson

    Te1 - Friermuth
    Te2 - Washington

    Lt - Jones
    Lg- Seumalu
    C - Frazier
    Rg - Daniels
    Rt - Fautanu

What I think will happen is everything same as above with the following changes:

    Wr2 - Jefferson

    Lt - Moore
    C - Herbig
    Try - Jones

    Defense

    ROlb - Highsmith
    DT - Heyward
    DT - Benton
    LOlb - Watt

    ILB- Wilson
    ILB - Queen

    Cb - Porter Jr.
    Cb - Jackson
    Slot Cb - Bishop
    Ss- Elliot
    Fs- Fitzpatrick

what I think will happen -

everything will stay the same with the following exceptions:

    Dt- Ogunjobi
    ILB- Robert’s

Slot Cb - Elliot w/ Kazee coming in at SS to replace Elliot.

Van Jefferson is right now the second WR with Austin as the slot WR.....I hope it will change!

My only concern with Austin starting on the outside is his size. I think this offense highly desires downfield blocking from the wr’s and Austin will be a liability as a two in that area. Significantly less in the slot in a certain passing situation.

Austin may become a lethal weapon, and I think he can be more than a gadget guy, but for the work you mentioned it seems a stretch.

i think he will be fine blocking. most corners are not a lot bigger. he may only need to chip block on most plays downfield. he looks stronger than his height might dictate.

I’m not worried about his height. It’s his slight build that worries me with the blocking.

His listed weight is 165 lbs I believe. That is slight in the NFL even by today’s standards. If he can figure out how to beat press coverage with his speed he may not need to block he can just run his CB out of the play. I hope he does well.... he seems like a great guy and a hard worker and we certainly need him to do well.

If He really wants to...He could be an ok blocker....He doesn't have to drive people off the ball....just get in the way...., and if He can sell that He is running a route...instead of going downfield to block....that will help even more

Yeah, the biggest part of blocking, for a receiver, is ‘want to’…. If you have a desire to do it, and do it well, it’s a huge step in the right direction.

I think half the players in the NFL block by just getting in the way. My all time favorite was Prime Time Deion Sanders. Guy was amazing playing MLB and NFL and lucky enough to have played in a SB and a WS. Blocking was not in his wheelhouse. Funny to watch him if he was forced to make a block. I enjoyed the guy even as a talking head. I guess you see him if you watch NCAA. Arkansas vs Colorado??

Health Miller was amazing blocking TE. Steelers should have used him more as a receiver IMO.

SteelersNow has a good example of his down field blocking. It is just 2 examples. Oct 6 2023 titles Calvin Austin Brings unexpected talent to steelers. Show willingness and ability to block down field.

if he can score points and stay healthy why not? How can we expect Wilson to stay healthy if he wakes up with sore calves?

It is being reported today that after Sunday's practice Zach Frasier is now the Steelers starting Center.
