Their defense had a very strong start and they were great at home, but yeah their defense were awful on the road.....Like 29 PPG on the road.Of course their offense had the most turnovers in the league last year and it did not help, but 29 PPG on the road is still too much!

Houston had 24 points in the first half of the wild card game before the first turnovers for the Browns offense.Ravens and chiefs had way better defense in 2023,start to finish

Agree. And they had a nice run against a lot of low level QB’s if you look at who they were facing in their better statistical games. I don’t get why they were being pumped up as one of the greatest defences ever. They were nowhere even close to that. Context matters but it was blindly ignored all season when it came to the Browns

Correct, if the Browns wouldn't have brought in Joe Flacco who was sleeping on his couch at home most of the year then they wouldn't have even made the playoffs.

I think the QB situation is obviously under performing with regards to the expectations out of Watson. They do have a good offensive line and I like the back half of their defense at least the CB’s. I think they are solid overall but certainly not an elite defense or team by any stretch. I would say on paper last year they had more talent than we did but I believe if things pan out this year with our draft picks and free agent pickups we have caught up to them. With all things being equal on paper we will see who the better coach is now.

The team that took a step back this year I believe is Baltimore. They will still be good but I think they lost talent on the offensive line and at ILB of course. They will still be better than Cleveland because they are better coached. Regarding the Bengals I don’t know what to think. It all really depends on Burrow and if he stays healthy. The good thing is all of the teams in our division are at the end of their window as contracts are coming due and they have spent alot on their Qb’s. So I only see them getting worse and us getting better over these next few years.

Thats interesting I didn’t realize that. You listen to the NFL pundits and they would have you believe the Browns are dominant on defense. I think they are feast or famine with a ton of blitzes and when they get blocked up they get burned. I know we had a couple chunk plays on them in both the run and the pass.

I think the bengals will have the best offense in the afc north especially if the running game is better....but their defense will also be the worst in the division

Honestly, If the nfl hosted a draft tomorrow for all active players, at this point, Myles Garrett would be the first non-qb taken. There is no gm in the world that would take any defensive player over Myles Garrett. After Myles, the next defensive player would be Christian Wilkins. Stop kidding yourselves.

I think both players are Hall of Fame Talents.

With Myles he was taken #1 overall , everyone thought he be bonafide great player.

Myles is. Watt everyone was down on college knee injury, so lot of teams passed and shouldn't have.

Watt taken at #30 same draft, 29 of 32 teams past before the Steelers.

Steelers got an equal if not better player later. So everyone thinks Myles Garrett (National Media) is better because he was #1 Overall.

TJ wasn't JJ's brother I think he be looked at even in a better light, but you often get the brotherly comparison etc.

But at end of day... Myles is probably the best player on the Browns and TJ is likewise the same for the Steelers.

LoL. LoL. LoL. I can think of 10 D players I would take before Him, and no they are not on the Steelers....only 2 are. Hell I can think of players on the Browns D that I would take before Myles....so not counting in the whole NFL .....easily 10 others.

Who is better that Garrett on the Browns? Ward?

Yes Watt is better but Garrett is still one of the best pass rusher in the NFL..

My rankings of top Edge Players:

    1. Watt
    2. Crosby
    3. Bosa
    4. Garrett
    5. Parsons

I could maybe switch Garrett and Bosa but to have Garrett number one is absurd.

The whole double teams thing is absurd. PFF actually has Highsmith having more double teams than Watt. Do you honestly think opposing offenses actually double team Highsmith more? They absolutely don’t. The reason is because the whole method in which PFF grades double teams is skewed. Watt rushes from the offenses right side which is the Qb’s visible side. The second guy blocking Watt is usually a RB or TE and because it is the QB’s visible side they often release in the flat so the QB can dump the ball over Watt’s head. Its one way of beating Watt. It is by design. With Garrett or any blindside rusher the extra TE or RB are asked to sustain the block just a little longer because the QB can’t see the rusher so he isn’t looking for the release as freely because it isn’t practical for him. In addition Garrett does stunt inside more than Watt so he will transition from the tackle to guard more which PFF considers a double team. So the split second of the RB or TE sustaining the block longer on Garrett as opposed to Watt is considered a double team on Garrett but not on watt according to PFF metrics. It really is sad .... anything to twist a narrative to favor one player over another. The sad thing is the NFL Pundits, NFL Writers, other players and even some front office execs fall for this stuff and as a result they end up validating PFF.

If the refs let the offence get away as many no flag holds on Garret as they get away with on Watt ,garrets stats would be 30 to 40% less than they are currently.Watt gets no help from the refe but still out performs all other D players.

The reason why the NFL Sports Media as a whole has this obsession with teams like the Browns or the Texans is the fact that the NFL Sports Media wants someone to knock Kansas City off their perch to be anointed the new kings of the AFC; Taylor Swift support or otherwise. To your point indirectly, even before she came into the fold, much of the National Pundits have praised Cleveland for the past couple of years believing that DeShaun Watson can turn back the clock to become the player he once was. If he can manage half of that?! Cleveland has something to look forward to. If not?! They are toast.

In short?! The Cleveland Browns have arguably the biggest boom/bust potential of any AFC Team; the New York Jets, the Los Angeles Chargers and even the Tennessee Titans included. Their season literally falls on DeShaun Watson for it is a tale of two extremes; either they become one of the AFCs most dangerous contenders or they will fall to a losing record. There is no in between with the Browns.

Technically speaking, the Cincinnati Bengals are also not entirely exempt from this discussion either for Joe Burrow's health has to be put into question here.

    This.

For that matter, it is known that, more often than not, number one overall picks get some serious media coverage; doubly so if they are of a Superstar Caliber type player. Myles Garrett fits that description to the tee. As far as Number One overall EDGE players, he has met the criteria for what is expected of one; another feather to his cap.

As you said though, TJ Watt has exceeded expectations beyond many peoples beliefs. What many has thought of a one year wonder at Wisconsin has turned into one of the most devastating 3-4 OLBs the league has ever seen within the past 20 years. There simply isn't any assignment that a 3-4 OLB has that TJ Watt cannot do. Hell, he may very well be the most versatile 3-4 OLB EDGE within the past decade... and that includes Von Miller; a player who is easily one the biggest playoff performers as far as defensive players go in NFL History.

Watt actually had 77 more pass rushes than Garrett last season. And there are other tracking services that correctly put Watt and other LB with DEs as 'edge rushers'.
