Bicknell had some nice talent on his lines though. Giants invested in their offensive line, as well as the Chiefs...

for years shannahan led the league in rushing in denver with those type of (smaller) 300lb. bodies, so it's very possible.

we can run rb screens and sweeps with these mobile linemen too, something we couldn't do with our sloths. i like the hire. now we need some speed and cut back ability at RB.

And in hindsight, maybe they needed him around for all of the issues they had this year.

Back to the OL hire...good signing. Really need to unify the run/pass games. There were plenty of quotes a couple years ago about one hand not knowing what the other was doing.

No you don't. Arian foster, Alfred morris, ( anyone in the shanahan backfield) edgrin james, john fox in denver and carolina they are never fast. Zone needs a 1 cut up field runner.

Does this have a Todd Haley influence? MT better be watching
his back, looks like the Rooney's are lining up behind Todd, There is
history there with his dad. Could Todd Haley replace Mike Tomlin? LOL

There is a lot of the same on this message board. Look at this place after a loss, heck look at this place after a win.

These people don't know Jack (no pun intended).....You're not going to please everyone all the time, If the OL can be coached to protect Ben and it happens to be Bicknell so be it. What i have read thus far he may work well in the Burgh even though he's from Jersey :lolol:

What makes you say this hire was influenced by Haley?

Because he worked in KC for one year. It doesn't matter that Haley and Bicknell didn't work together there.

As a boss i always welcome a good ref.on people having sufficient skills and are competent. I have no problem with the idea Halely refering Jack to the organization. (if thats how it went down) I believe its fair to say CT's job is secure.

That's what I'm trying to understand, what did Haley have to do with it? Guess he was just making stuff up to get a reaction?

Either that or he just doesn't know that they didn't work together.

Haley replacing Tomlin would be a good move??? He has a 19-26 record as a HC including one winning season.

That would be the logical conclusion.

I think Haley would make the better coach, his personality would be the 2nd coming of Cowher , only with more of a killer instinct than Cowher, who was trying to run out the clock even when the running game wasn't working, those quick 3 and outs used drive me nuts!!

ya in KC where the team was dead and buried , he brought them back, the injuries killed the team in year 2, not Haley's coaching. They let him go too soon.

Logic? Who has time for that?! This is the offseason, man. If we stick to logic we might as well shut this message board down now with all of the illogical scenarios that are being bandied about. ;)

In all seriousness, I actually started to suggest that Haley had something to do with this myself until I saw that Bicknell only worked one year in KC and it was after Haley left. As for the comment about Haley succeeding Tomlin as the Steelers' next head coach, I can actually envision a scenario where that could happen. I really don't think it's that far fetched.

So we want another coach who could win 1 Super Bowl in 14 years? Sorry, I don't see the logic in firing Tomlin.

i think haley ought to concentrate on what we hired him for first before we annoint him HC over MT. i see to much (my way) in haley to be the head coach, and thats asking for trouble. OC is fine but not running the whole show. i don't think thats his stregnth.

Wow, now I've seen everything, comparing a failed head coach to Cowher. Haley doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Cowher. I don't even know how good of an OC Haley is, forget HC. I'm giving him a pass on this season because it was such a cluster f--k but if he produces another season like this past one, I'll be beating the drum to fire this guy as soon as possible.

    Here's a Q & A with Coach Bicknell. He's got some good answers. I particularly liked-

"...But if you can walk off that field and know that we just dominated the opponent physically, that is the most important stat."
