I'm sure as much as the Ravens won't want it to be, this will be a distraction for them. According to a report, Ray Lewis sought out deer antler spray, which is a PED, to help him recover from his triceps tear back in October. Apparently, this was not the first time that Lewis had sought PEDs from this same physician.

I'm sure there are a ton of links out there but I was too lazy to post one. I just heard it on ESPN radio coming back into the office from lunch.

This wouldn't even be an issue if the Ravens had not made it to the Super Bowl. As much as I hate the Rats I think this is a non-issue. I hope Ray Ray plays well while he's on his way out. He will go down as a legend.

Well, it's not really a non-issue considering Deer Antler Spray contains IGF-1, which is a PED and on the NFL's banned substance list. I agree that he'll go down a legend.

Hmmm...what if the Ravens win the Bowl and then it's proven Ray Ray was on PEDS? Wonder if the NFL is looking into this before the game....probably not as Roger is more concerned with the green back

He shouldn't be allowed to play, and if the Ravens knew of this, there should be a stiff penalty- loss of draft picks, etc.

So you want to throw the book at him before anything is proven? Hmmm...

I hope this is true. If we are gonna have to endure watching them win this game at least we can always say "yeah with a cheating linebacker" or something like that. I can't stand Ray Lewis and I'm sick of hearing about him. I bet Wes Welker's wife is updating his wikipedia page as we speak. LOL.

The article I read stated that there was a recorded video of him talking with the guy which shows him taking some of the pills (that he says he never took BTW). Also, he asks where to put the spray and recieves clarification on where the spray is injested.

Whether that stuff has any banned substances in it is up for question.

This reaks of the Hines Ward allegation of the blood transfusion to heal his knee a few years ago prior to the Super Bowl.

I'm suprised this came up during media week. I'll also be suprised if the reporter asking the question manages to stay employed writing about the NFL through the next year.

They will more likely butcher him after the game and preserve the rack for the HOF.

Yeah, the evidence sounds pretty convincing but to say they shouldn't let him play in the Super Bowl is too much. As of right now he didn't do anything wrong.

And not that this matters hen it comes to him playing Sunday or not but the recorded phone call probably can't be used as evidence. Doctor-patient privelege and I'm assuming Ray Ray didn't consent to the conversation being recorded.

This is a non story. Every team in the league has players who have taken, are taking or will take steroids. I bet most of the league has taken steroids at some point in their career. Hell, many of my friends use steroids and they're just gym rats. Steroids are far more common than most people believe. You want to crucify Ray Lewis for possibly taking them, that's fine by me, but I'm sure many of our guys take them as well. Not to mention that many of our guys on the 70's teams took them and have admitted to that. Now I understand they weren't illegal then, but the end result is still the same, steroids give an edge to those who take them compared to those who don't. Making them illegal doesn't change that fact.

I'm not saying Ray should be banned from the Bowl, but you do realize Ben was suspended 4 games, and by your definition, he "didn't do anything wrong". We suspended Holmes for a game, before he got his chance in court. I don't think there's a precedence that you need to be proven guilty in a court of law before the NFL strikes it's punishment on you, so why change now?

I was referring to the comment that he shouldn't be allowed to play in the Super Bowl and yes, Ben was suspended after an investigation was done.

We suspended Holmes, not the NFL.

Ben wasn't suspended for an unproven accusation, Ben was suspended for a whole list of things he had done and potentially done. His suspension was for more than just the two sexual assault allegations, although those were the two defining things obviously.

Holmes was suspended by us, not the NFL, so that's a different scenario altogether.

In order to be suspended for steroid use, he would need to fail a drug test

You know, I'm certain I'm in the minority here, but who cares? I understand that he was still on the roster, but if taking these PED's can help a player recover faster I honestly don't see what the harm is. Provided they stop using them once they are back on the playing field.
Then again, I am of the opinion that I don't really care one way or another if an athlete is using. It's their prerogitive and their life. If they want to, go ahead.

What players are you talking about exactly? Also, why is it that when someone gets in trouble for PEDs, the discussion goes to the 70's Steelers? Lots of elite players of the Steelers dynasty didn't take steroids. Likely more than those who reportedly have. Either way, what does that have to do with present day player x taking a banned substance?

I disagree. Can you prove that?

The way some people bend over backwards to defend Ray Lewis borders on the bizarre to me.
