I don't see him being released.

As far as the twitter account goes, I saw that it was disabled, but I assumed it was due to all the ire his recent Ray Lewis related tweets drew.

I have serious concerns about our entire team. I can't help but wonder if we shouldn't be doing a quick, half-assed rebuild. Get rid of Harrison, Clark, Troy, Hampton, Ike, Wallace, Mendy, Starks, Colon, Hood, Woodley, Foote, Foster, and anyone else who is either underperforming, overpaid or getting up there in age. Try to trade some of those guys if possible, otherwise release them/let them walk in free agency.

Sign a few FA's, fill other needs through the draft, and go with the young guys who have been sitting on the bench. See where that gets us. We're going to end up at that point eventually anyway, so lets just jump ahead a few years and see what our team truly looks like once the older guys are gone. If we fall on our faces, then so be it, it would have happened in the 2-3 years anyway. We'll get a higher pick and we can hopefully draft better than we have been the last few years. Who knows, we could play better than we did this past year when you consider that we'll have cap space available to grab a guy or two in FA (not that we would, but one can hope).

steelersdepot.com reports clark deleted his twitter to focus on rehab and off season training. Which if anyone follows ryan on twitter, he is on it alot. So I can see him deleting it for that purpose, but on the other hand, there seems to be more behind it. I hope not, he was a bright spot for our defense this year. I want him to stay.

    here is the article: http://www.steelersdepot.com/2013/0...-quit-twitter-to-focus-on-his-rehab-training/

Considering he was the best player on the entire defense last year, it would be idiotic.

Not only would that be ill advised, I think it's impossible, the cap hits would be enormous and would be looking for people from supermarkets to field this team.

I hope he's here too, he's about the only one who really hits anyone anymore. And yes, he's on twitter a lot, too much, the home page here was constantly filled with his tweets, hope he's done with it.

I also don't wanna see him go. I know that he's not a superstar but he's probably the best role player this team has had for a while and we need that.

we really need to get through this next year. i said for awhile now i think we will see alot of udfa's filling in this year to get us to the rise in the cap in 2014. i'd keep clark, he has one year left and then it cost us nothing to get rid of him.

if we relese ryan clark we wil not be 8-8 next year.. we wil be maybe 6-10 .. how does it work out for us when we go to denver and dont have clark in the lineup? to me thats the most stupid things the steelrs can do .. last year they released all the team leaders.. now our most vocal player they are talking of releasing.. be a long year next season if they get rid of clark

Clark wasn't the best player on defense last season Timmons was and he should've made the Pro Bowl.

If we release Clark AND Hampton AND Harrison, we're below .500 next season. More because of the leadership void than the talent void.

I don't take the talk of Ryan Clark's release very seriously at this point because they have absolutely no depth behind him. They could switch Curtis Brown to his position but I think it is too early for that. He would need at least a year of tutelage from Clark and the coaching staff. It just wouldn't make sense.

Most likely scenario is we draft a pass rusher and cut James Harrison.

Ryan Clark was our best player on defense this year.

I think Colbert is going to give Troy one more year to prove himself. If Troy stays healthy they will keep him, but if he gets hurt again I think the trade him/cut him.

the only trouble would be the draft pick wouldn't play. it would be worilds. clark is the general in the d-backfield. maybe ike does move back there. if they do they better have a plan. LOL:cool:

i agree, unless we draft two ready to play safeties clark has to stay. polamau is a much likelier target with the higher salary and all the missed time.

Exactly!!!!!!!! Clark is the unheralded star of this defense. Troy is the most popular and splash play guy. Timmons and foote man the tackle crowns. Clark is the clue. He covers for and allows Troy to freelance. He sets the stage for physical play by delivering the hammer. We have no-one to replace Clark on the roster. Troy, as much as he is loved for his play is expensive in a captight environment and the fact he if oft injuryed and has a capable back-up in Will Allen does put him in a position of being a cap casualty though in reality we all know it won't happen "this" year.

Getting rid of Clark would be a huge mistake. Show me where his game play has gone down hill! I could think of a few others that would/should go before him.

I honestly do not see the steelers releasing Clark. I think the only way he is not here next year is if he decides to hang it up himself. He is an anchor to our defense! He has taken a beating the past couple of years, and i know his family is very important to him. I want him to stay, but if he does decide to hang up the cleats I will respect his decision.
