This isn't new. It was reported at the time when the Steelers signed him. After all the complaints about Pickett checking down too much and rolling into sacks, the Steelers signed a quarterback who checked down even more and also took way too many sacks the last two seasons.

I guess I have to ask, why are you a fan?
For the last couple of months, you've done 2 things- denigrate every coach and player on the Steelers team (oh yeah, and the gm), and pick stupid fights with just about everyone on the board. So you're unhappy with the coaches, players, management, and you don't seem to like the fans very much, either. I've been on Ravens message boards that have more positive things to say about the Steelers than you.
So, ask yourself, why are you a fan?

No, you didn't have to ask. You chose to do so. Why are you distracting from this thread to attack another poster?

If you would like to discuss Wilson, by all means, share your opinion. If you have a problem with another poster, by all means, send them a PM.

He’s just questioning another persons negativity all the time. I don’t see a problem with that. I guess he could have just asked him if he’s actually Mark Madden.

People on here seem to not understand the difference between realism and pessimism.

The bitter irony is that all the Steeler fans who cant bare the thought of hearing anything negative about Russell Wilson, will be the first ones to turn on him when they actually see him play.

I'm not even sure if his post was directed at Steelersfan43 or at me, but it wasn't a great response to either.

Classic example of making a mountain out of a mole hill. Some people just like to complain about everything Steelers related and probably would even do so right up to a Super Bowl parade. I know several people like this including my own brother. He loves when the Steelers suck but still calls himself a fan somehow. I quit watching games with him decades ago.

all they have to do is give us reason not to complain. the super bowl parade should be better than it is. i haven't seen burning police cars or anything. what the heck kind of parade is that? :smiley1::cool:

Tom Brady was king of the check down. You take what is there. The last thing we want is for him to force throws. I guess we could have gotten Jamis for that?

Most of the people who wanted a change at quarterback complained about Pickett checking down too much. Wilson does it more.

I'm sure the complaints would include the Super Bowl parade.
"I had to go downtown, and that stupid parade clogged up traffic."

I'm not sure if this is the right game (or if I'm remembering a different one), but look at the Jan 2015 Patriots win over the Ravens in the playoffs.
On the winning drive, Brady made 4 consecutive short left passes (4 to 9 yards), each time to a different player (Gronkowski, Amendola, Hoomanawanui, Edelman). Safe passes that resulted in 25 yards and 2 first downs. For the last two of those plays, Brady passed the ball right after the snap since the defender was giving a cushion, and the catcher raced to the sideline to avoid a hit.

On the 5th pass to the left side (to a 5th different receiver), the Ravens CB finally moved closer to the line of scrimmage to take away the easy short pass. Brady faked another quick pass, LaFell sprinted down the sideline past the CB, and Brady went 23 yards deep for a TD before the safety help arrived.

Checking down is fine, as long as (1) it reliably moves the chains, and (2) the QB can make the defense pay when they are caught trying to take away the check down.

He's a Ravens fan. Say one little negative thing about Lame R Jackson, and He will spend two day trying to convince you differently.

It wasn't clear, which is why my post works whether he was responding to me or not. His post did follow mine, not the OP.

We signed a guy who consistently led his team (Seahawks) to the playoffs, went to two Superbowls and won one. Pickett may improve and he may not. Wilson May regress and he may not. I’m confident, though, that a 2024 version of Wilson is still better than what we had in Pickett and Trubisky.

He did the same damn thing to us. I think it was in the Burgh. He started the game with short passes and ate us up.

What the scouts saw in Trubisky I'll never get. Pickett looks like back-up is his future. I'm not thrilled at all with what we have at QB but you are right, it is better.

When Kenny checked down, he missed the open guy.
