Can you identify this Pirate?

A veteran National League infielder, he was a Pirate for 20 days in the early 80s. He went 0 for 10 and was released, never to play again in the majors. His tenure was so brief that this was the only picture I could find of him in a Pirates uni, other than his baseball card.

 

Tim Foli was #10 I think but that is not him.

 

I'm pretty sure that's just Freddy Mercury in a Pirate's uniform.

 

Lol, no, but it does look like some mad scientist combined the DNA of Freddie Mercury and Phil Garner in a test tube.
I will reveal the identity tomorrow if no one gets it.

 

20 days? Sounds like Al Bundy's career with the Steelers but this guy doesn't look like a shoe salesman.

 

Although no resemblance, thought it could be Derek "Operation Shut Down" Bell from the early 2000's who was actually with the Bucs for 1+ seasons. Here's an interesting article chronicling the dismal events with the Bucs around that time including Bell's tantrum tactics.

Ok, drum roll please…..it is Ken Reitz. Played most of his seasons as a Cardinal. Signed by the Bucs in April, released in May. Went 0 for 10 in his Pirates career.

 

Remember Reitz but never remembered he was a Buc.

 

Hey Steel, if you blinked you missed him. What makes it fun is that it seems like these pictures come from some alternate universe and should not exist, because none of us remember him as a Buc.
