Football Life: Undrafted James Harrison gets his chance

Joey Porter was ejected due to a fight in the pregame warmup and James Harrison got his first start because of it....LeBeau was in panic when he found out Harrison had to start!

 

I remember James Farrior saying that Harrison had a hard time grasping defense of scheme's etc. that it was his biggest issue.

He be in the wrong spot or wrong place in training camp. He get so mad at himself he tell coaches just take me out, I don't know what I'm doing. He would quit in the middle of plays.

Farrior said Harrison said he was going to quit Football and go drive a truck like his Dad did.

Farrior couldn't believe that the guy was serious.

It finally clicked for him. This guy didn't even really start until the age of 27, when Porter left to go the Dolphins, from what he did in that period of time is amazing.

Especially when a lot of players are out of the league by the time they are 27.

I think Dick Lebeau and Keith Butler were guys who really got it across the X's and O's for him and then he picked it up a lot better. Harrison talks very highly of those guys especially Dick Lebeau I think he looks at him as like a 2nd father figure he thinks so highly of him. But, a lot of players talked highly about Lebeau.

 

Cool thing if I remember correctly. Is Porter was the only Steeler ejected, but Him fighting more than one....I believe they had two, or three starters ejected. I remember poring coffee, and My then ole lady saying....hey...Hey....look what's happening.....LoL.

 

Porter and Wille Green(Browns) were the 2 who had been ejected from that game

 

I believe it was at least two. I know for a fact He threw down with more than one.....one tried attacking from behind, and I thought both were thrown out.
