Steelers fans get ready for another year of Dan Moore Jr. as your starting LT

But the Steelers had other ideas, lets bring in "The Spitter" Trae Turner to play RG and move Dotson to LG???

 

I hate so much when some players are not at their best because they don't play at their natural position....Another reason Jones need to be the LT big time and it was stupid by Tomlin to put him as RT last year or let him on the bench to start the season even if he had a good game as LT vs ravens when Moore was out for that game...Btw Okafor was right to be upset on Canada but he was benched for that for some random reason

 

Chuks benching was not random. He was a complete liability on certain plays. Then he ran his mouth on the sidelines during a game about why keep trying. He got benched for those things. Chuks was given ample opportunity to earn the RT spot. Even extended just to play RT. CHUKS is the reason CHUKS got benched.

Kevin Dotson was the best option to replace Ramon Foster. Maybe not the best spot for Dotson, but that is where he was needed. Maybe LG was the reason for more penalties, maybe it was the ankle issue he was dealing with, maybe a combination of both?

We will see what happens at LT for the 2024 season. It is open to competition. Maybe Jones does move to LT and Moore to RT. does that fix things or make us better? Time will tell. You cannot just throw in fixes not tried as if that is the definite answer.

 

No. Kevin Dotson was here and playing well at RG. He took over for David DeCastro and played extremely well at RG. Mike Tomlin/Colbert/ whoever the powers that be decided to go out and sign Daniels as a RG instead of getting a LG. Then they would have been set at guard. The decision didn't make sense when they made it. They needed to get someone they knew can play LG when they already had a young, inexpensive player balling out at RG.

That decision set this team back. The addition of Green at C was a disaster that compounded everything bad that came from, before, and after that. It was just a number of bad decisions by all involved that led to the OL being a real problem for several seasons. The obsession with moving a player that showed he had a chance to be outstanding at his natural position rather than addressing the LG position with a player that actually plays LG is mindboggling. I understand trying to have a player move to a different position to try to help the team due to injury as a temporary move, but moving players that legitimately look like they have a chance to be terrific players at a specific position and signing others to take their spot doesn't make good football sense.

 

Something must have went down with Dotson, maybe had a huge personality clash and got into arguments with Coaching staff? His play was frustrating at times, but I always thought he could refine his game.

I think you can win games with Dan Moore if you nail down the Center position.

 

Maybe so. I haven't actually spoken with the guys involved. Foster retired right before the 2020 draft. Dotson was drafted in that draft. DeCastro had the ankle issue that season and was subsequently waived and retired after that season in 2021. Whichever player Dotson was to replace, it didn't work out. He is definitely better at RG than LG.

 

we can go on forever about ex players. they need to get the right mix. seumalo won't play forever. i think wiedl likes big maulers at most spots. not sure barton fits that bill at center. to short of arms to play RT. would love to see latham drop to us and fill the tackle spot. frazier at center would be nice but nasty nate may fit what they like better. that would give us a big mauling line.

With the Steelers taking LT Troy Fautanu everyone needs to pull the reins on Broderick moving sides and bumping Dan Moore down the road this year.

It will be the same setup as last year when camp begins as Dan Moore is your starting LT, and the rookie is his backup until he is ready to take over during the season.
