This is just dumb dumb dumb.

You make this move when you're on a the cusp of a SB and he's the final piece - maybe.

What would be the cost for Aiyuk for his next contract?

I think I prefer to keep adding rookies to the WR room.

    I do not

    we need another playmaker WR.

We need to win - now. Go big or go home, in 2024.

We can figure out cap crap in 2025 and 2026. We have NO IDEA what that will look like as we are paying NOTHING for a QB now.

We have money to pay some offensive players - or we will.

    yeah.....doubt this.

but, as i always say - we will see.

he will NEVER see this in SF and he won't be a 49r this time next year, I'd bet. He needs to consider this.

    No doubt.

I meant vs paying $25M-$30M per season with big $$ guaranteed. I am not against guys getting paid, just that seems a poor place to put it right now for the team.

We have gotten pretty good production from our rookies over the years.

Steelers are linked with several WR trade rumors. Funny to me there are no Center trade rumors.
    :hehehe:

it's not exhausting he is definitely a 1 wr I want him. The only problem is we have other needs, and they are many but holy :poopy: sign him. I will be happy if they do but wont cry if they don't, but you are just saying you have no confidence in Pickens so you might as well get rid of him too

Amon-Ra St. Brown just signed for $30 mill/yr. Don't think Aiyuk is going to want any less.

    well...........really?

curious - what rookies have we gotten 'pretty good' production out of? JuJu started OK, AB started OK, DJ OK, Pickens OK, Austin - no, Claypool - no, J Wash - no

I don't ask snarky - I am thinking, racking my brain over it.

usually don't get much from a rookie WR.....some, but not much.

my point is - I'd love a proven STUD.

YES - it will cost us.

    I saw that.
I guess we will see. Amon is now highest paid WR in the league.

    cap goes up every year.

it will be interesting to see where Aiyuk fits in.

he gambles with injury risk and final yr of contract in SFran

He may not want less, but that doesn't mean he will get that much. St. Brown is better.

    true

Aiyuk will get paid - let's pay him - why not?

GP may not even be here in another yr or 2 if he keeps acting like a clown

I will tell You why not. The same reason I said to wait on DJ.....Yes DJ was great for Ben, but Like I said then....different Qbs see the field differently, and what happened as soon a Ben left. DJ was never the same. You have not a clue what Aiyuk will look like with the Qbs we have....yet You want to give up picks, and big money for Him. If We don't know what a Wr will look like with a different Qb....then let's not spend the house to find out. I can give You multiple examples of Wrs being great with certain Qb, and not others.

JuJu was better than ok. 2300+ yards 1st 2 years. My opinion.

AB was better than ok. Could have made HoF. My opinion.

DJ was better than ok. Over 4k yards in 5 seasons here. My opinion.

Pickens had a 1k yard season last year. Better than ok. My opinion.

Claypool had 1700+ yards his first 2 seasons. Better than ok. My opinion.

Too much talent at WR out there to put that much money on any one, at this time. Like somebody else posted, if this was all we needed I might feel differently about it.

While I agree whole-heartedly with this sentiment, I don’t exactly agree with the how to do it. That seems to be the debate on the forum currently.

I miss Ben at QB. I don’t know how this will work with Wilson, although I am optimistic. I also read recently we are not picking up the 5th year option on Fields, so he’s either being traded or they expect to replace him.

We have to fix the OL and middle of the Defense. Get a QB for the future. Then, spend $30M+ on a star WR. I think in that order.

i am not arguing that it was not his BEST year, but he was no good.

62 catches in his Rook campaign - 870 yards, 9 TDs (4 in one game!)

a good rookie campaign, for sure - no disagreement.

we need more from the guy opposite Pickens, that is all I am saying. and DJ was not delivering the goods either. and yes, we can blame a poor O for the years he was here.
