Match the ex-Steeler with the correct bio:

    Names:

    A. Limas Sweed
    B. Fred Gibson
    C. Huey Richardson

    Bios:

    1. After leaving the Steelers and the NFL, he got an MBA and was/is a financial analyst in New York City. He was in the World Trade Center building on 9/11 when the first plane hit but got out safely and survived
    2. During Steelers training camp, this player “ discovered” that he had astigmatism in both eyes and would have to wear contacts. After signing his contract, of course. He had a drop problem his whole career and was a bust..
    3. After leaving the NFL, this player was a professional basketball player. This player was drafted in the 10th round of the NBA D-League. He played 45 games that season , averaging 7.3 points per game and 1.2 blocks.

Sweet had the astigmatism in both eyes, but the drops thing is seriously overstated.

I liked Fred Gibson. Good to hear he had some success elsewhere

is this like DJ's dropsy problems , too - were overstated?

does anyone here watch the Steelers games?

It's remembered that way because of him supposedly faking an injury as an excuse for dropping a pretty important pass. I remember watching and also thinking he was faking at the time after dropping the pass, but who knows. I'm sure that's where most of the drama about him dropping balls originated, although he dropped plenty more than that.

I think the last time I looked it up he had like three for his career. Granted his career didn’t amount to much, but as stated previously overstated a bit. If I remember correctlyThe drop/faked injury thing was against the ravens. It also cost us a timeout.

Without reading anything after first post I went, Gibson-Sweed-Richardson.

With a name like Fred Gibson you sound more like a white collar guy then an NFL guy.

    Damn missed it.

Sweed threes good block once, therefore he earned his ring.

Right, he had like 3 drops,n but he only had 7 catches for 69 yards, so that's almost half of his actual NFL catches. Not much of a sample, but that's all there is to go on.

He was targeted 20 times in his whole career. You don't remember many drops because he didn't see the ball enough to drop a lot of balls. He did drop quite a few of those first 20 in pretty big moments, hence why he is remembered for his drops.

Drops look a lot worse when your open and have a few yds on the defender and balls drops right into your hands for an apparent easy TD only to bobble and drop it on the turf.

He was only targeted 15 times. Three drops is a 20% drop rate. He also had two fumbles and the drop/injury incident against the Ravens.

Clearly a small sample, but the guy was not flashing sticky hands.
