chop robinson in the first. :hehehe:

trade away highsmith and watt for big draft capital and go with chop and herbig in the near future.

just something to throw out there to talk about during these slow news days. not really thinking they would do this but would you?

No. I don't get rid of Watt until He shows me he can't do it anymore.

they won the game in dallas and had the number one seed if it wasn't for an officiating error. the league said sorry though. they have actually built a pretty nice team there with a good coach.

Trading away a really good player and a great player in hopes that we get a guy that is a great player.... The math isn't math-ing for me.

It would be one thing if it was a great player we either wanted to move on from, or wouldn't be able to re-sign.. but neither Highsmith nor Watt fits that bill.

It's like having a million bucks, then turning around and spending that million on lottery tickets to hopefully win more than a million bucks.... OR you can just have a million bucks and spend it on things that you want/need.

or with inflation that million bucks you have isn't worth that million bucks you think it is. or the million bucks you have but the bank is closed half the year and you can't touch it. or you paid a million bucks for a car you thought was worth a million and a half but found out it has a bad motor but the two you have in the garage are worth one and three quarters of a million and has lottery tickets in the glove box. :hehehe:

Trading away Watt with the hope of drafting someone as good as Watt? No thanks.

Hey, you know what is worth less than a million bucks? That same million bucks tomorrow.... LOL (also, not funny at all)

But yeah, I certainly hated the idea in the original post lol

Chop tested well but there wasn't a lot of production from him last season, hell no.

Is it worth the dice roll? What do you think the chances are that Chop turns out to be as good as Watt? 1% on a good day?

How about herbig? Could chop be as good as highsmith? Plus we would get quite a few high picks. Plus save a ton of money for other free agents. They wouldn't give them away. In was good too and the injuries started taking their tolls.

It always sounds good on paper in a theoretical sense but it is highly unrealistic. There are so many variables on why this rarely if ever happens in the NFL.

    1. The players aren’t pawns. They have relationships with the team. If your a highly performing player on the team your presence effects more than just on the field play.
    2. Team moral would be greatly effected trading away a team leader.
    3. Loss of leadership on the team.
    4. Why would you trade a proven vet for an unproven rookie?

Only way you trade away a star is if your starting over and you want to give that vet a chance to go elsewhere and experience winning.

as i started this thread not really thinking they would do this or do i want them too, but he is in his last couple of years of his contract, which is worth quite a lot and so is highsmiths. these two and cam take a large portion of the cap. we don't have a franchise qb. herbig has shown some very good potential to possibly be the next TJ. chop has some ability but like any draft pick who knows. could we get similar production in a year or two and for a lot less money and fill other needs? that would be the only reason to attempt something like this. i'd expect many high draft picks would go along for these two. not to mention a ton of cap space and a couple of guys that could fill the holes already here. that's what you would hope to get from such a move.

I don’t think it is practical. It is highly risky and again your trading away more than just on the field production. In addition the whole defensive scheme is built around putting pressure on the QB. Those two are the linchpins to the whole foundation of the defense.
