I'm in a quandry and haven't quite yet decided, worst SB in a long time for me. Do I pull for a hated divison rival or for a team to tie our SB Record where we'd be no longer atop the mountain alone???????

I just want to add I'm putting this in a poll format to better gauge Steeler Nations desire.

How about neither? I can't stand either coach and you mentioned the 6 and your most hated rival matching up. I think I am going to cheer for a wardrobe malfunction for Beyonce... :)

Has to be SF, I just said in another thread, we can always win more rings, we can't take away a SB from the Ravens though. I won't like the 49ers winning but I will take great joy in watching the Ravens suffer defeat :rockin:

As I've said before, I have had great animosity for Baltimore for years. One of those reasons is Art Model, even though he no longer has anything to do with the team. I've come to terms with the Browns moving, and have developed a good deal of respect for the Ravens organization. They have built their team very similar to the way Pittsburgh has. They play the way I think the game should be played. If the Steelers aren't in it, I'll gladly pull for the Ravens. Some might call me crazy but I'd much rather the SB champ come from our own division. That way, it makes not getting there a little bit easier to swallow, when you can say the best in the league still came from their division.

Boy, some of you sure view rivalries differently than me. I don't see how this is even a close call. I can understand respecting them as a team, but rooting for them to win just because we can't? They are our rival. I hate them. So I want them to lose.

I'm also a 49er fan, but even if it was some NFC team that I hate like Dallas, I would pull for them over Baltimore. And I could give two poops about the Super Bowl record. That's not the kind of record you keep, that's the kind that will change hands all the time, forever. We'll only be sharing, and we can get it back, and BALTIMORE WON'T HAVE WON A SUPER BOWL. Plus, I just don't care that much about the record. I made that mistake when I was a kid and we shared with the 49ers at 4 SBs apiece. I rooted for SD even though I was a niner fan. It was a miserable day for me, when it should have been great fun watching my team win the Super Bowl in incredible fashion.

No brainer... Niners. I couldn't care less about another team getting 6 becuase it is eventually going to happen but I can't handle going through an ofseason hearing about the Ravens being the champs and then every time they play next season that they are referred to the defending Super Bowl champs.

I didn't even think anyone should be rooting for the Ravens in the last round but this one shouldn't even be close! I'll puke if this poll is split down the middle like the last one, disgusting

Agree...even the half-hearted Steeler fan shouldn't cheer the enemy for the cause / chance SF will relish in 6 Lombardi's talk about going against the grain. If SF wins I would like to think it would inspire Pittsburgh to chase the 7th sooner than later and throne the hill once again...its the standard ya know! :smiley1:

I'm not excited about either team winning the SB. I keep hoping that somehow one of them will be forced to forfeit and we'll get to see Roger Goodell vs. James Harrison instead.

Since that's not in the realm of possibility, the lesser of two evils for me is SF.

Since I have to make a choice, Iwill go with San Fran.
I don`t want them to tie us in SB wins, and I DAMN sure, don`t want to see them be the only team that has never lost a SB...
    But...
Their glory years, were while we were struggling...
Ain`t like its Dallas, that we had a head to head rivalry with...
On the other hand... Baltimore, is clearly the best current rivalry we have going.
I would rather see San Fran win, than them...
I just hope they physically hurt the hell out of the Cravens, on the way to doing it.
I don`t care how politically incorrect it is to root for players to get hurt.
If San Fran`s gonna get their 6th, and be the only team to never lose in the SB...
They can at least give me the satisfaction of hurting the hell out of the Craven`s players, while they do it...:butcher::steelflag:

Niners all the way. Can't stand the thought of Ray Ray, Thuggs, Flacco or Reed hoisting the Lombardi. And when I think of Hairball and that pompous smirk of his being broadcast all over the world 24-7 this entire off-season, well that's just more than I can bear!:kapow:

That's how I look at it too. Of course none of us wants SF to tie us in SB wins, but even if you specifically dislike San Francisco... if this is the way they tie us, we should be thanking them for it and remember it fondly.

The only saving grace about rooting for the 49rs is that we got to 6 first. They will always be 2nd best

I want the Ravens to lose but the thing that bothers me most about the 49ers winning is not that they will tie us but that they are in a better position to get to 7 before us. Still, there's no way I am rooting for the rats, I see though that there are 10 members here who are in need of a cat scan :taunt:

Here's why I'm rooting for the Ravens in the Superbowl

I don't want the 49ers to tie the Steelers with 6 Superbowl wins, if the 49ers win they are a young and talented team and it's possible they could get to 7 also before the Steelers do. I can put aside my hatred for the Ravens for one game, maybe if the Ravens win it will motivate the Steelers to comeback stronger.

To me, it's a no-brainer. Ravens all the way. Several reasons:

    1. Of course, I do not want to see the 49ers win #6. And we have all expressed this selfish reason in one way or another. But it's true: the only trophy case in the NFL that should have six Lombardi Trophies is ours.
    2. The better the Ravens are, the better the Steelers will aspire to be. The Ravens have ascended to where they are today BECAUSE of the Steelers. Suggs said, "We want what they've got." And he meant titles. If the Ravens win, the Steelers might very well enter camp in 2013 wanting it back. They'll be hungrier.
    3. From a front office perspective, there is no way the Rooneys will like seeing Harbaugh and the Ravens win it. They'll probbaly congratulate them publicly, but privately, they'll be streamed. And that will help #2.
    4. From a divisional perspective, we have to take pride in what the Ravens are accomplishing--as well as the bengals. WHY? Because when you play in the toughest division in the NFL (and that's what the AFC North is, imho), winning that divsision MEANS SOMETHING. Go back to the NFC east back in the 80s and 90s. Redskins-Giants-Cowboys (along wth the Eagles). These teams PUSHED each other...this goes back to point #2.

I used to despise the Ravens as much as the next fan, used to be disgusted by Terrell Suggs. But then last season, Suggs said something interesting about wanting Hines Ward on the field and that the game would not be the same thing if he couldn't go. Suggs RESPECTS the Steelers. I can't say the same thing about their HC. But I have come around to appreciate and respect the Ravens players and their toughness, their physical play.

I think they do. The 2012 Steelers looked like a disinterested bunch to me.
