I don't know the depth of truth in an 'article' that show up in my feed. I did not bother reading it, but the gist was Patterson was asking fans for help in picking out a number. So, if there is any merit to that story, and the fans did help..well AB you were forgotten before any retirement of number came up. lol

He should definitely retire as a Raider. He did so much for that franchise. They’d be thrilled to put him in their ring of honor. :lolol:

Oh no AB, please don't threaten us with retiring as a Raider! Do you know what that would mean to us Steeler fans? Not a damn thing, go retire as a Raider, who cares.

The only retirement AB should be concerned about is retirement to the psych ward due to the unchecked mental illness and CTE issues he seems to be experiencing as a result of that Burfict hit.

He could have been the greatest WR to ever play the game, but sadly now just an angry narcissistic racist and a washed up has been who seeks attention and publicity to stoke his ego.

Fu*k you AB. Instead of worrying about a jersey number, worry about the number of Benjamins you owe your kids and baby momma's.

    Randy Grossman deserves it.

Never has a player impacted a team so much by playing so little.

    relevant part of the article

The last person to wear No. 1 for the Steelers was Gary Anderson from 1982-94, who also happens to be the team's all-time leader scorer with 1,343 points. Additionally, there is a belief around the team that no player is allowed to wear No. 1 because it is meant to signify that no player is above the team.

Although players have worn No. 1 in training camp and preseason, no players who have played in a game in the regular season have worn the number since Anderson.

For a good laugh here is more AB drama:

PITTSBURGH -- Antonio Brown has been Pittsburgh Steelers-heavy on social media lately, making a case about how he'd return for "free" if they allowed him to wear Hines Ward's number 86. This came after he was upset about the team allowing Cordarrelle Patterson to wear No. 84.

https://www.si.com/nfl/steelers/ant...-- Antonio Brown has,Patterson to wear No. 84.

I believe that AB needs to be fitted with a jacket...

What about the Bucs? Brady, Gronk, Fournette and Bucs D won a Super Bowl with very little input from AB. Retire a Buccaneer.

I can't believe I wasted money on his jersey.

I stole this post from a year old reddit post someone made.....

Steelers have officially retired three jersey numbers - 75 (Mean Joe Greene), 70 (Ernie Stautner) and 32 (Franco Harris). However, there are several jersey numbers that have not been issued for the Black and Gold in regular season play.

The following jersey numbers have not been issued to a Steelers regular season player in the past eight years. Year in parentheses is the last season that player wore that jersey number for Pittsburgh.

    • 1 - Gary Anderson (1994)

    • 12 - Terry Bradshaw (1983)

    • 43 - Troy Polamalu (2014)

    • 58 - Jack Lambert (1984)

    • 63 - Dermontti Dawson (2000)

    • 86 - Hines Ward (2011)
Three other numbers have spent long periods of inactivity and were only used by players for a couple of games.

    • Jerome Bettis' 36 (2005) was worn for one game in 2022 by Quincy Wilson.

    • Mel Blount's 47 (1983) was worn by Steve Morse (1985), Cameron Riley (1987), Bruce Jones (1987), Scott Shields (2000) and Ronald Stanley (2006).

    • Jack Ham's 59 (1982) was worn by Todd Seabaugh (1984) and Malik Reed (2022).
So the Steelers have three "official" retired numbers, six "unofficial" retired numbers, and three others that get parceled out for practice squad players signed to the main roster.

    ....
I also looked up to see how many numbers were retired around the NFL..... Was quite surprised to see some teams have retired quite a few. The bears and giants have each retired 14 different numbers. How does that work at training camp when you can have 90 players and only have 85 Numbers available? Lol

I bought my son the bumble bee AB jersey and it never leaves the closet. It isn’t even good enough to wipe up spilled oil when I do changes.
