I try to sign Joe Flacco this offseason. There is nothing else in the free agency pool as good as him and the draft for QBs is weak. He needs to win NOW. BA is not getting more than 2-3 years to win. His Gunslinger system requires a QB to make plays. Flacco is better than anything he has and anything he could draft. That is hard to admit as a Steeler fan, but he played well yesterday making every throw he needed to.

No way the Ravens let him go. Only 28 and he's gonna get better. Damn, I hate the Ravens!

The Ravens will franchise Flacco if they can't work out a deal.

but why would flacco want to leave baltimore? i know the defense will need to revamp but i don't think the offense is changing?

While I agree Flacco is playing well, his receivers make him look that much better. It was discussed in another thread how well his receivers go after the ball and make the tough catches. Boldin in particular makes Flacco look like a star.

you know, the more i think about it flacco and arians are a good match. flacco is a better long ball thrower than he is short range and reads. fitzgerald and floyd are big downfield targets, through in roberts and the reciever corp is pretty good. still not to sure about why he'd actually want to leave. alex smith looks like a much more available target.

seeing the cards can't win with former steelers coaches and players, maybe they should set their sites on the other teams players

Would be a good idea if they can get him. I think they will draft one though and go into next season with a healthy Kolb and see how he does. He was doing pretty good until he got hurt.

I hate Flacco, but lets give credit what credit is due. WR's can't make a QB better than he is. If that was the case, Larry Fitzgerald would have had a better year this season. A QB either puts the ball where only the WR can catch it or he doesn't. If he does, the WR will usually catch the ball. If he doesn't, it will be incomplete or picked off most of the time. Flacco gives his WR's a chance to catch the ball. He's better than most of us give him credit for and he's proving it this year. Not the most consistent QB in the league, but he makes plays.

the cards right now are one milion over the cap , not sure they can find the money to pay flacco, they invested 62 milon in kolb in 2011 , and is scheduled to earn 13 milion in 2013

and btw flacco will be tagged by the rats

i don't think they can afford not to pay him. they don't have an adequate replacement or draft options.

the only bright spot of the rats in the sb is they will have to pay flacco big money , (they are 15 milion under the cap right now )

And playing the 25th ranked D made them BOTH look better yesterday. Let's not forget that the Pats aren't exactly the Steel Curtain.

Ben will be traded to the Cardinals before Flacco goes there. I bet Ben is already looking at houses in Arizona.

    Great point.

According to some sources, the Ravens are going to have to franchise him and then pay him something like 15 million-17 million per.

This is going to hamstring them for years. The Super Bowl will show and expose Flacco's limitations.

They are not interested in Flacco. They covet Alex Smith and Matt Flynn.

Sorry, but I still don't think Flacco is that good. He has a good and motivated team around him. I would rather have Ben any day.

How about this, seeing that the Bidwells are as cheap as
Mike Brown, maybe we can make a deal for Larry Fitzgerald
say Mike Wallace and Lamar Woodley for Larry. Larry is already a
Rock Star here in the Steel City (Pitt) we need a leader and will need
a WR when Mike Wallace leaves anyways. This would renergize the fan base.
A superstar once again playing for the PGH Steelers.

A lot on here blame the receivers for making Ben look worse than he is. If Wallace puts forth the effort Boldin does to make catches in traffic, Ben looks that much better. I gave Flacco credit first thing and remember he was told earlier by his coaches to start making those throws and trust his receivers to make plays. Ben makes those throws to our receivers and the result usually an incompletion.
