With the signing of Russell Wilson to a one year contract as a "win now" kind of move, do you think this increases the likelihood that the Steelers will draft a quarterback next month, maybe in rounds 3-5? I'm thinking Michael Penix, Jordan Travis or Spencer Rattler may all be in play now.

I honestly don't know where this leaves us, but I would hope they draft one. You have to have some sort of contingency plan past this year.

You can't go into next season with your fingers crossed that KP got much, much better. Especially if he's not playing.

You can look great in practice or preseason, but you don't know until they are real game snaps.

We are a team without a plan right now. And have been since any semblance of plan was ditched when Ben retired. This team is in the dark, and hoping.

Devin Leary from Kentucky had an excellent combine performance. He doesn't have a big arm but he has elite accuracy. I wouldn't mind taking him in the late rounds.

If they do I hope it's in the 6th or 7th rounds.

I wld say so with almost certainty that we will draft a QB. I would want one as early as possible but not in the first round.
    I like OL round 1
Maybe QB round two (best remaining, however I am a pass on Rattler, sorry, than WR round 3 or one of the 4s

    I seriously doubt it.

Either a Vet or trade for Fields imo. Take your pick.

Barring any Pre Draft Visits.... not happening. That said, as @steelersrule6 pointed out indirectly, look for March 22nd or March 27th. March 22nd is Florida State's Pro Day (Jordan Travis) and March 27th is Tennessee's (John Milton III). These two QBs would make the most sense imo.

Am I missing something that everyone sees in Fields? Now you are on the Fields wagon! Well, we can try again for a Bears 1rd draft pick again, if it doesn’t work out we can go for the hat trick

Well, the chances were pretty good that we’d consider drafting a QB on Friday night after Pickett was traded and then the chances decreased dramatically on Saturday night after we traded for Fields. Maybe a 6th or 7th rounder or we bring in a UDFA.

Doubtful in my mind, the team has so many other needs, it's hard to justify drafting a QB even though they need one. I think the front office is happy with the Fields pickup and would look at signing another Josh Dobbs type guy to sit for years rather than draft one.

I don't know what kind of practice schedule Russell Wilson is going to be on, but without Ben and all his days off gone, and the league going to only 3 preseason games, along with all the new rules on shortened practices, do the Steelers need to bring in 4 QBs this offseason?

And, then there is the whole pads vs shorts practices, do you really need a 4th arm in camp?

You need a 4th qb because you have 8-10 wrs, 4-5 te's, and 4-5 rbs in camp. They need reps to be evaluated. You have db's that need to cover. 3 qb's puts a lot of stress on their arms. Worst comes to worst, they get cut. Best outcome- they replace Allen as the #3. Most likely outcome- they end up on the practice squad.

Any UDFA could be the 4th string camp arm. Heck a few years ago they had a kid from Slippery Rock come in and be the 4th team QB in camp.

It doesn't hurt to take a look when your top 2 QB's are going into their final year on their contract. I seriously doubt we take a QB, but if we do it is because we absolutely love the player.

If they take Penix Jr with one of their 3rd's then I feel they will hold their cards until an injury occurs with another starting QB. Then Khan goes to work moving Fields for a few picks. Got him for a sawbuck.

    Wilson could mentor Penix Jr.

I don’t think he will last that long but yeah, I’d be plenty happy if they pick him. Aside from his physical tools, I forget who it was but they said Penix and JJ were the closest to pro QB’s in that they process very well. Sounds like a good combination to me, has the physical traits plus he can process what he is seeing.
