Not going to blast you at all. Mayfield’s a competitor and you can win with him. Cleveland gave up on him way too soon but that’s what the Browns do, make stupid personnel decisions (see Watson, Deshaun). He also showed a lot of guts playing with an injured shoulder his last year in Cleveland, which probably hurt him because his performance suffered because of it.

I'm sure Tampa Bay got him for a bargain last season, he led them to a division title and a playoff win, so if they want to keep him they will have to pay up.

So, if free agent Baker Mayfield can sign with Tampa, why haven't the Steelers signed Mason yet?

Wasn't Mayfield on the same type of 1 year contract Mason was last year?

it todays market that is actually a good deal for both, they keep Evans and Baker in a weak division, the team exceeded expectations last year, can't say elite, but made noise and should be better.

Not the same scenario at all, Baker wanted to stay and played and delivered all season, MR played a few games, has an opportunity to explore with some 'cred' for the first time, Baker is a proven starter, MR is back up almost out of the league last year.

But it is the exact same NFL Rule scenario. So, could the Steelers have signed Mason if they wanted too and not waited for free agency to begin this week?

What is the Difference between Baker's 1 year contract last year and Rudolph's? I have been assuming the Steelers were not even allowed to start talking to Mason until free agency began.

A team can always sign your own free agent at anytime

Maybe Mason wants to test free agency first.

Because Tampa and Baker both wanted him to stay there

Mason wants to check his options so the Steelers are looking at options
