and another team for example jacksonville or arizona, offered you a first and third for ben. would you take it? this would be easier to answer if we had a backup i know. i personally would not, but i worry about the future of this team. i dont mean five, six years down the road. i mean next two years. we have some major decisions to make. ben has been a great player and now he seems to have his life on track, but this team is getting younger in a hurry and i worry about his leadership. i wish he would step up and be more visable with the team. he may be great in locker room and on practice field. i just hate seeing him screw up and go over and stand next to byron or when another player gets down u dont really see him go to them. i think he is top three and wouldnt trade him for anyone but if he pkayed for someone else i would prob say he is not top ten.

No. Bens 30 years old, you don't trade your 30 year old franchise QB.

Five 1sts and five 2nds from a team likely to draft high. I might consider that.

Sounds ridiculous, and no one ever wants to go higher than two 1sts, but you can't put a value on a franchise quarterback. That's why trades like that don't happen. No one wants to give up that insane amount and no one wants to give up their franchise QB for a couple of pitiful picks. Even if you get great players with two or three high picks, it won't mean squat unless one of them is as good as the guy you just traded, and the same position. That's not easy to find, even picking first overall.

i would think about it only for a first overall in a draft where you can take another luck . if you trade ben you have to trade him for someone younger that could realistic have his talent

THAT would be ideal! How lucky (no pun intended) can you get having one of the greatest QBs to ever play for 15 years and then to be able to draft the best QB prospect to come out of college since you drafted your last one?!

If this was last season where you had two strong Pro-ready QB's in the draft I would say yes listen to any offer that is floated your way. This coming draft though I don't think you even entertain the thought unless it is a multiple pick trade that puts you in the top five of the draft and there is some one you just have to have. The determining factor in that is if you can sign a proven winner at QB from the ranks of free agency. I think Alex Smith would fit into Haley's system really well. He isn't the proven winner that Ben is but he is a solid DLG quarterback and who can play with in a system effectively. Ben is not going to be around for six more years, not unless he changes how he plays because his getting by on talent and athletic ability has gotten him to this point and also gotten him alot of punishment. I think we all saw what happens to that ability when it isn't 100%. So the front office can't keep putting off making some tough decisions at the QB position simply because of what many perceive as the Franchise QB. Sooner or later they have to make strides for whose next otherwise you end up with a situation like the Cardinals have right now.

Franchise QB that plays the position like no one before and has been part of multiple championships

    Ridiculous

Exactly what the guy above me said! Seriously, trade away a QB that has made us contenders since 05? Has 5-6 more left in the tank for some picks that may or may not pan out and turn it over to some rookie in the draft when there isn't a QB this year that is screaming Andrew Luck.

A proven commodity, for future potential.
There better be players like Luck, RG3 in the draft ranks
    to pull off this deal.

even with ben it took two or three years before we turned the offense over to him. if the line improves and with the right back it's not a crazy idea. still need two firsts and another high pick though. an extra 1st and third this year and an extra 1st next year could fill a lot of holes and we're about to see a lot of departures.

speaking of which, everyone mentions foote, hampton, harrison, kiesel. i don't think troy is here more than a year. i really think lack of depth and quality replacement is the only reason he's still here.

Mike Tomczak, Kent Graham, Kordell Stewart, Todd Blackledge, Neil Odonnell, Bubby Brister, cliff stout, mark malone....just to name a few Qbs that have started between bradshaw and ben...

and you want to trade the guy who is 30 years old and who went to 3 Sbs and won 2 for a few draft picks?

thank goodness you are not the GM!

The asking price for Ben is higher than what the Bengals got for Carson Palmer, probably more than double. Carson has never won anything...Ben has 2 Superbowls. Probably 2 firsts and 2 seconds, plus in a draft where there is a special talent available to replace him. You can't just go trading him for assets, they need to be the right assets.

Colbert has started the conversation by telling the media the steelers might consider drafting a QB in the first round this year, has Ben become a mal content to the point the management wants to shop him, if so his buddy Arians is the new head guy for the cards and needs a QB bad, just saying, reading between the lines the media has said they dumped Arians for Haley to get Ben under controll.......

From what i've read and heard, Colbert didnt say we were open to drafting a QB in the 1st round. He basically said every position has a chance to be our 1st draft pick. And then the media ran away with it and turned it into a QB. Colbert is trying to instill motivation and possibly fear into the guys we have because of the disappointment of an 8-8 season. I dont see us drafting a QB until after round 3

100% correct, and I knew it would happen too, it's so predictable. And what is Colbert supposed to say, "Every position but QB? You all sucked except Ben". Of course they aren't going to draft a QB round 1 or 2, 3. Maybe 4 but I doubt it, I doubt any QB gets taken this draft, we have much bigger needs.

Exactly. Sort of a wake up call. Let them all know no ones job is safe. That's all Colbert was saying with that comment.
