Watt asks for more clarity on DPOY voting

No you and others don't understand this.

 

I'm still trying to figure out how Watt can lead in sacks and pressures, but somehow not have a better win rate.... someone correct me if I'm wrong, but don't sacks and pressures qualify as wins????

Sure I see your viewpoint and it's a valid one but it's still similar enough in my mind. He knows he should have won and most casual fans know it. Hopefully he just lets it turn into something that drives him rather than letting it be just another distraction for him or the team. It's done and over with they aren't going to overturn it.

 

No You are right they won't overturn it, but the man has actually missed out ....not once now, but twice now on DPOY, and the only time He has gotten it ....He had to tie the dang sack record (which he actually broke IMO). It's crazy. He's been so dominant compared to most that they now are using stats they that they usually don't use to keep Him from it.

 

Basically when TJ plays we win and when he doesn't we lose.

Pretty much sums up his impact. We owe him at least 3 game balls this past year where we can give the ball directly to him.

 

Quarterbacks don't get to the Hall of Fame without being surrounded by enough talent that it wouldn't happen.

 

My best guess is there are plays that a defender beats his man, getting a win, but doesn't get close to the quarterback. I just don't see how those should matter more than the times when they actually affect the play.

 

Very true. Many times has narrative won out for the bigger awards. One that stands out to me was the year barry sanders broke 2000 yds and had to share the award with favre who just had a typical favre year. And theres that time Manning beat out Brees. David Robinson beat out olajuwon for mvp in the NBA. Its not right but in the end none of those guys that got beat out are knocked on or thought less of. Tj is already almost at 100 sacks. He will be regarded as a legend in the pantheon of alltime great steeler and nfl lb's no matter what if he can put up a few more seasons of big numbers.

 

Is it right? No. Is it logical? No. But let’s drop it and move on. We are becoming like those we criticized in the past.

 

The thing is with these QB’s earning such big salaries and making up a big part of the team salary at a certain point in their career the onus of putting the team on their shoulders and winning the game matters. JH has entered that territory simply because of his salary now.
