you are in the club of "Keep Cam" at his current contract, I think?

if so, that is the wrong move.

    does that help?

No, they have to at least restructure it. They can't afford to keep him at that cap number. I am in the camp of presenting information accurately and analyzing it correctly.

And you're dodging around the fact that you're acting as if losing four snaps/game makes him a part-time player, pointing at a different number that sounds better for your argument and justify he be cut immediately.

In my previous post I admitted there was risk in keeping him. I don't think Heyward is going to defy the function of time. But I don't think he's washed, either. The organization can afford to extend him via void years and likely get a productive season out of him.

Turning tail and cutting him is too much the other side of the spectrum at this point IMO, and would likely impact negotiations with players like the QB/C candidates you mention upthread. At the end of the day it's all a business, but the teams have more control in the equation, and the players know it.

Part of the reason Heyward's cap number has bloated is because team asked him to help make cap room in previous seasons. Dumping him now is going to be seen as a pretty cutthroat maneuver, and in the long run wouldn't be the best for business.

If they restructure him my only complaint is I really don't see him doing another year. Plus the offer needs to be what he is being paid this year and broken into 2 years. Which I don't see him doing that either

You can see what the breakdown is per game. Dudes dropped to 75% 2 years ago. And less last last year.

Did you not see the breakdown I presented at the beginning of the thread?

They can extend him without offering him another penny and take $9M off the 2024 cap.

Lets look at that 75% in context.

Over the last 3 years, Quinnen Williams played 59, 65, and 69% defensive snaps.
    Javon Hargrave: 68, 64, 62%
    Jonathan Allen: 70, 82, 79%
    DeForest Buckner: 77, 77, 72%

Other (higher paid) DL are playing at or less than 75% snaps.
Maybe the Steelers realized that overplaying Cam during the regular season wasn't the most effective way to use him.

I totally skipped that. My bad.... so I'm all good with that.

Also I'm going to make sure I didn't leave the oven on.

Maybe. And I'll trade for them due to they were not injured and 5 years younger.
