Look, there are a million reasons to not like Tomlin, and a million others why Mason's market might not be hot.. None of either has been articulated here...

In essence the race-baiters on ESPN and Fox literally came up with Garrett l's excuse for him before even he thought about it.

Even if Mason was a card carrying KKK member, the likelihood he'd have said anything racial is Zero!!! Even a dumb KKK members will surely prioritize his money and physical safety over his prejudice.

That no one had the common sense to point that out infuriated. Stupidity was allowed to run wild... Looking at you Shannon Sharpe!!!

 

Let's not forget that Maurkice Pouncey was close enough that he would have heard anything that Rudolph said loud enough for Garrett to hear it. Maybe Pouncey would have kept it to himself, but I can't imagine he would have lost his mind defending Rudolph if he had really said something like that.

 

That's my point. Even if we assumed automatically that Mason was a racist ( which is a ridiculous assumption it you knew anything about Mason as a person)... But let's even assume that for arguments sake he was a one... It still wouldn't make sense for him to spew a racial slur at a black player in a game where Black Lineman were tasked with protecting him and were around him.

Some people don't seem to understand how awful being deemed a racist is... Even a racists white teammates ( had there not being any black lineman on his team or close) would have quickly distanced themselves from hiim.and supported him getting is as whooped if he said something stupid... Everyone knows this... Racist or otherwise...


So there is zero incentive for an actual racist in that situation to say something racist. Talk less someone who isn't one and has no history of being one... But even more importantly someone like Mason who has the character of a fantastic human being...



Mason Rudolph imay be the best human being to ever plays QB for the Steelers. Id put it between him and Charlie Batch.

They are by any measure of man, fantastic men! The narrative during that period about what might have pushed Garrett was sickening to listen to...


Here is an answer: He is a dick. He didn't like that a scrawny backup had the audacity to talk back to him for acting like an ass... That was simply all it was. Arrogance!

I agree. I also felt in my gut that Garrett pulled out the race thing to soften his actions to others maybe get them sympathetic to his actions. He did bludgeon a man on national television with a helmet. A qb he could destroy easily in a fight without a foreign object. But sometimes my guts have sheet for brains so I could most definitely be wrong.
