If Woodley goes and works out with Shaw this summer he will easily surpass 15 sacks. I hope this year really opened his eyes sole. When you have Mr. Rooney saying some individuals need to get in better shape and get more pressure on the qb there is a problem. There's no way he is talking about anybody other then Woodley in that statement. Harrison was in shape he just wasn't healthy this year.

Sorry should have linked the article. Shaw said he wanted Woodley down there this summer and teach him the right way to run.

Sounds like something Woodley should consider. He took a beating from the fans this season because he appeared to be out of shape. I wonder if he had trouble working out or training due to his injuries and that is why he looked a bit out of shape?

I believe troy has already signed up. Ike has been trying to get him down there for like four years now. Troy said he nes to change what he is doing in the off season so I'm taking it as he is going to florida.

It's a no brainier for him. Obviously what he's doing isn't working. Lets see how serious he is about football. If he declines the offer, that's our answer.

It really gets under my skin. The fact is that if he would put in the work he has the potential to be the best steeler olb of all time I'm a huge Woodley fan but not if he continues to act like he doesn't care. Showing up out of shape tells me you're lazy and don't care.

This message board is funny sometimes. How do any of you know for sure what his conditioning/ training schedule is? Just because he looked a bit out of shape and a few here noted it then it turns into he's a lazy piece of crap. Maybe he had trouble with his conditioning due to the injuries he had? Funny how opinions turn into facts around here.

He is being paid tens of millions of dollars to play a specific role for this franchise, and that role requires that he be at a weight that appropriately balances power and quickness. He can't be complete OLB if he's porked up like Casey Hampton. Even if injuries limits his workouts, he needs to compensate with diet so that - when he does finally get healthy enough to workout - he's not starting out 30 lbs. overweight. Have a friggin salad once in a while Lamarr. You're being paid very, very handsomely to be in the best shape possible given the circumstances.

So now we know his eating haabits? Proof other than visual through a tv that he was out of shape more than what should be allowed by the team? Proof that his injuries were a direct result of his conditioning or diet? I'll wait.

Don't know about his eating habits, conditioning , training or injuries. All I know is what I see with my eyes watching him play , and that is, in the last two years he has done nothing and has been worthless. 99% of the time one player blocks him and keeps him engaged. He looks fat and he looks slow to me.

I am someone who has played a lot of sports, and struggled with weight, so I am coming at this from decades of personal experience. When you can't workout as hard because of injury, diet takes on a higher level of criticality. If you let your weight rise when you're not working out, you make it even more difficult to recover when your initial injury heals. You risk additional injury because your freshly healed body is now trying to move more weight than it was before the injury. It all piles on, and it's not even remotely surprising that LaMarr has had the string of injuries that he has had when you see how much his waistline has expanded over the past couple of years. Even if his eating habits aren't bad, his waistline clearly tells us that he has not been able to keep his caloric intake and caloric expenditures in the proper balance for an elite athlete these past 2 years. He has a lot of work to do this offseason. It's simple math, and the waistline doesn't lie (which is something that I am ALL to familiar with).

I give up Glenn. Watch the games. That's very heavy evidence that he is not the same player that he was when he signed the big, fat contract extension. It's all the evidence that someone needs. I like Woodley, but he needs to do whatever it takes to earn his paycheck. He is being paid like a Pro Bowl pass rusher, and the production isn't there. If you want to make excuses for him being out of shape, I can't change your view.

I agree that he has not lived up to the contract. He does look a bit out of shape. After reading some of the negative posts about him they all just kinda blend together for me. Problem around here is opinions turn into facts. We don't really know how the injuries affected his training or if there was some other factor why he's looking out of shape and often injured. I understand that this is a message board and the idea is to discuss these things, but again people tend to state their opinion as fact. Not to mention you have the over the top members saying things like" he's worthless".

Oh, he's definitely not worthless, but he is clearly not the guy the Steelers paid a ton of money to. If this is the Woodley that we will see going forward, he probably needs to be a 4-3 DE where can have no pass defense responsibilities and be able start every play in a 3 point stance. Trouble is, we're not a 4-3 team... at least not yet.

I personally think he will be fine. We know what he's capable of, I'm just hoping he's having a tough time with some nagging injuries and maybe got a little carried away with his diet as a result. With all the criticism this season and the spotlight being on him, I think he get's it together quick.
