I admit I don’t watch much college football and don’t know who is a reach or not but thought this might be interesting. Every year after the first pick of the draft a handful of people love it, some don’t care either way and a lot of people hate it to no end. It’s well documented that many people hate the KFP pick. So this year I want to know who would be your biggest disappointment should the Steelers take them in the 1st round? Make it realistic to a degree that the player could actually be picked by the Steelers. So who’s this #20 guy y’all don’t want or trade possibilities?

Graham Barton. Pretty good but not amazing tackle who a lot of people are seeing as a plug and play guard or center, many ranking him at #1 at those positions. They use the fact that he played 6 games as a center as a freshman to support that.
If we're going to draft someone at 20 to play center, it better be JPJ, who has dominated at center for three years.

Like OP I have little idea about the NCAA. I follow the Steeler draft on this board and learn about the players we drafted from members. I tend to believe what they say about a player. Never forget the old board when the Steelers announced some guy named Ben R. Very first time I heard of him. The members at the time went crazy with excitement. Almost all who followed NCAA said we had our guy and would get #5 in short order.

I will probably hate any pick that’s not ol or dl. However, I’ll take a wait and see approach instead of furiously tapping away at a keyboard

Jackson Powers-Johnson: Center Oregon. Only 21 and a beast!

I agree with strummerfan  I would not be happy either if its not a trenches pick.

much depends on free agency. we have some positions to fill, how they fill them is yet to be determined.

They will do what they always do

Fill in the blanks with either average journeymen or older guys with s few miles still left in the rubber

Then draft highest potential impact player available

Go for the highest NPV in the first 3-4 rounds

After that get the best athlete because it’s a major crap shoot

"What a stupid pick, we could have gotten him in the 3rd round!"
" Terrible Terrible choice, this will set the Steelers back at least a decade! "
"Horrific pick, the Steelers management team panicked with this choice! "
Just trying to be the first to get these usual responses out of the way.

I was one of those that went crazy with excitement when they picked Big Ben. The only reason I knew about him is because he played locally to where I live and I was able to watch a few games he played in.

I for one hated the Pickett draft pick at that time and still do. Doesn't mean I won't support him and hope he does well.

I prefer going trenches again in the first but I'm hoping for BPA.

They only have 2 dependable WRs, 1 dependable CB, 1 dependable S so I would NOT be opposed to any of those positions being drafted in the first.

As someone noted about FA will answer a lot of questions, but also remember cap casualties will also open up new positions of need as well.

I'm not opposed to putting Moore on the right side and kicking that can a year; however, I'd rather not do that.

I am more of a Position Hater when it comes to the 1st round picks in the draft.

Last year it was OLB/Edge. I just hated seeing all the mocks with the Steelers picking an OLB in the 1st round.

This year it is CB. JPJ is our shutdown CB, guard the opposing teams best WR on every play type of guy. If we are drafting a CB in the 1st round you would think he would be a team's future #1 CB. JPJ is asking the coach to be put him on an island with the opposing teams CB on every play, why bring in another Alpha CB to compete with JPJ in the 1st round. I do want to see the Steelers draft a CB in the 2nd or 3rd, that can play opposite of JPJ, but we don't need to spend a 1st round pick on getting a ROBIN, to JPJ's BATMAN.

If it is any WR, EDGE or Offensive Guard prospect I'm gonna lose it personally. I can respect nabbing a WR later but definitely not either EDGE or OG. Not that said position is bad to get but there exists no reason to currently.

OT, CB or Jackson Powers Johnson would be acceptable in Round One. Wild card for me is still Taliese Fuaga but Tomlins track record of heading out west is miniscule at best; David DeCastro being the last major pickup from the PAC 12.

Yeah, unless you’re on the payroll and paid to watch games I tend to take anything anyone says about draft picks with a grain of salt. Even scouts paid to do that job don’t have enough time and or access to see it all. It’s a gamble and much of it is luck so I just go with what I think are worthy picks. I do enjoy having my list and checking out others list but more for fun. Always laugh at the “well, there goes” whoever crowd since everyone Steelers don’t take is a projected star in their opinions.

For me and our draft, I’d rather be lucky than good TBH.

JJ McCarthy. I am definitely of the group that wants a new QB in here, but I am not a huge believer of McCarthy's.

In all honesty I want the first pick to be either C, S, or possibly CB. I wouldn't hate an ILB, but I'm not sure this year's crop is worth a first rounder. DL is fine, but there aren't many guys that fit our normal mold. Maybe Newton? I'd be OK with a T too, but its not the highest priority IMO.

At center, Powers-Johnson has been trending up, a few mocks now have him hitting the 20s. If he has a strong combine showing relative to peers at other positions he could be in the mix at 1.20.

No one's really flashed that high at safety in this class. Some have Kamren Kinchens as the top S prospect going at the top of the second. Personally, I like Calen Bullock. He's a high-IQ guy that brings a head of steam in run support. USC alum, where the Steelers happened to pick up a decent safety a few years back, I think he'd pair well with Minkah. I've seen some mock him to the Steelers in the second.

There's a lot of good talent at positions of need for the Steelers this draft.

OL DL Secondary or MLB would all be worthy of a first rd pick pending who is available. We need major upgrades in all those areas. Cam better keep volunteering in the community because he is washed on the field.
