How would you do with someone else snapping it to you, into the wind with 11 guys trying to get to you?

Well, obviously it would be much harder, but these guys are pro's and have been doing it all their lives. I'm just saying that the physical act of punting a football for 40 yards in itself isn't really that difficult. All these shanks I see from Harvin don't make much sense for a guy that does nothing but punt for a living

Maybe incentives included in the contract should involve food. Less than 30 yards he gets a salad. Over 40 a cheeseburger. Over 50 a large pizza. Over 60 a Porterhouse.

I don’t know if it would ever happen but a 70 yarder would get him an all day pass at Golden Corral.

I’ve found as we get older these hang time estimates seem to get exaggerated

There used to be one in Harmarville awhile back that I used to go to. Their steaks were pretty bad, but I liked their salad bar

According to Wikipedia, in 1989 there were almost 700, by 2003 there were less than 400, and in December of 2023 only 13 remain open in the US.

Kinda sad. I remember my parents taking me there a few times as a kid. You think places like that just kinda hang around somewhere in existence, then find out they've gone to the sweet by-and-by.

Acknowledging a problem does not really mean replacing the fat punter. It likely means giving him another year to see if he improves.

You are forgetting another portion of the Tomlin style. He will acknowledge the problem and talk about addressing it. That will end up being something like signing harvin for another 4 years and telling him to try harder

I don't understand how they can't find people to double up on some of these positions and create additional backup. You would think that with the level of physicality, competitiveness and experience that many of these NFL players have that there would be several people already on the team that are capable punters. They might not be the absolute best punter in the league, but I would wager good money that they can outperform harvin.

That's nice to know. Gives one a feeling of solidarity, and a remembrance of things from the past. It's been awhile since I've been up that way though. Next time I'm in a nostalgic mood, I'll have to hit them up

Mike Tomlin - always the last to know.

He must be on some sort of a delay.

Yeah this is Mike's first stage of denial that he's made another mistake, it takes years to to stage 1, dealing with a problem is a few stages away yet.

He's gone off now to call Harvin not to blink and not to live in his fears, that'll problably do it.
