The vet minimum for a player with 6 years of service is $1.21 million, so no $700k won’t do it. He’s going to get at least $3 million as a backup. Double that or more if he’s competing to start somewhere while a team resets at the QB position in the draft.

Especially if he has a good agent,

For a 7 yr vet like Rudolph, the NFL min in 2024 is $1.21 MM. He made $1.08 MM this yr. I suspect he’d do better than that now.

I never said he shouldn't move to LT, I simply said there is no reason to answer that question right now. Even if he knows the answer, he does not owe anyone his thoughts on it.

Sports no longer get me worked up. Once I hit age 30 they no affect my mood. When I turned 40 I realized how stupid it was to get emotional about it in my 20's

He was asked if Pickett was and said yes, but there would be competition.

The media asked the question because they needed to get the answer on record. Any media member who didn't either hear him answer the question for someone else or ask it themselves would not be doing their job properly. Tomlin kept insisting Pickett was still QB1 the last two weeks, so yeah, you have to ask about that today. It's not about clicks or some other nonsense. It is about doing the job properly, a job you clearly don't understand.

He had half of last season and this season with coaches telling him to take care of the ball at all costs. Hanging in the pocket too long can lead to turnovers. He also hasn't had a line he can trust or competent coaching. Given that he took some time to get it a the college level, seeing him need a couple of years to figure things out in the pros shouldn't be a shock. That said, if we don't see something this year, it is time to move on from the notion that he is a long-term option.

Tomlins answer about Kenny. Sounds like they are all in for next season. Certainly doesn’t sound like anything that would be decided in camp.

Got to admit, makes a lot of sense. Trouble is most don't believe that Tomlin is going to change his game plans. Most of us will be shocked if he does go outside for a OC. With a radical change, both of our QB's would surely have a better chance. Thus the whole team could better compete.

Wait till you're 50 and you realize death is looming and you get back into caring about sports to take your mind off impending doom.

It comes from being right and understanding that I know far more about the subject than you.

Pickett is the only for sure QB on the roster currently I wouldn’t read too much into this. If Mason comes back I’d assume they have an open competition and Mason will win.

The disrespect Tomlin shows his players is amazing... Rudolph should leave pittsburgh if given the opportunity... If you were Rudolph after what just happened why would you want to play for someone clearly this out to trash you... Played Trubisky ahead of you for fs sake & then when you saved Tomlins a$$ & got steelers to playoffs,,, this is how you are treated... & for what? To spare Picketts feelings?

Yikes… I’m certainly good with giving him a shot, but that sounds like he’s the guy next season. Period.

Aw, geeze - come on, Scribe - why're ya acting so insecure? You put on the 'tude, but I know there's a nice guy in there somewhere - maybe even a guy who doesn't have to compulsively conceal his own limitations by falling back on using silly, ornery psychological projections :lolol:

Hope it doesn't come to that as that sets us back probably 5 years at least as new guy would need 3 years to determine if he is the guy.

I am kinda feeling Jesse Minter maybe? I want someone that is young and hungry. I haven't looked too much into it, but I kinda like the idea of him.

Any decent vet will be in the 5 to 7 million range, give that to Mason, let KP start with a new OC and see what happens. Chances are MR will play due to injury to KP a few games.

Pick up a developmental QB in the mid rounds if need be.

Mason is coming back. Kenny will be given his chance w a new OC. If he lights it up great but I would not be surprised if Mason wins the "competition" by week four or five next season. Kenny has a lot of pressure to win next season. The leash will be short. He must put up impressive #s and have a winning record after the first few games of the season to keep Mason behind him. Really no margin for error.
