Minor coaching change. Unsure what he did as a consultant.

Is this a good indication that the Steelers have let everyone know there will be new Coaches in place for the offense next year. When one of you Offensive Coaches bolt's out the door hours after the season ends for a college gig are big changes coming?

    Was this a “Canada guy”?

He might have had this lined up for a while.

Saw this. Hopeful it means a shakeup but could easily just mean Faulkner will keep the OC job and Thomas was hoping he’d get it.

Should have an answer to this soon though. Can’t drag your feet on it and let the best choices go elsewhere.

No, Thomas was brought in well after Canada was made the OC.

I say "Bolt", because he already had another job the second the season ended. I don't know if there are any rules preventing NFL coaches from talking to colleges while still employed by NFL teams.

This may have been an example of your boss telling you advance your career elsewhere and having done so a while ago

If Tomlin doesn't get the extension I can see this happening. But if he does this would make zero sense. He cannot or has ever called plays so possible Sullivan sticks around. Long term definitely not.

If Tomlin is extended they best bring in an Innovative offensive coordinator and not on the cheap like Rooney likes it.

I'm not sure if any the of top OC candidates are salivating at the prospects of working for Tomlin and having 3 back up caliber QB's at his disposal

Perhaps, his hiring was as a specialized asst., and kind of hard to read anything into this except they told him to leave, or he got a better offer, and yes assistant coach's often make a huge amount more in college,

maybe its a Browns thing, but did you see what they did with the OC and some staff today? No feet dragging there, but damn getting the blame for a team that lost perhaps its best O player (Chubb) in the first game, went through 4 QB's, ended up 13 in PPG (not great, but look at us lol).

Yeah I don’t really get the Browns’ thinking on cutting those guys loose

Didn't Van pelt defeat Ben R in playoffs as the Browns OC?

Yea what innovative OC wants to come work for MT who is trying to win games likes it’s 1946. Agreed about the QBs as well we don’t have an actual #1 on the roster. Unless they throw a boatload of money at someone what top option would want to come here and wither away.
