It's gamesmanship. Nothing wrong with it. It's no different than a hard pump fake. Just don't bite. The D can tackle a guy without blasting him. Get in position for the tackle on Allen and if he goes down, just stop. If he doesn't go down, wrap him up. The D but hard because they are always looking for the big shoulder hit. That just isn't easy on QB's anymore so forget the big hits. Just wrap up.

That's not even a fake slide. He slowed down to change direction. My god there's a lot of complaining and excuses from grown men.

Fake slide or not, the D can still get in position to wrap him up if he doesn't go down. As I said, not everything needs to be a big hit

Doesn't look fake to me,,looks like he was slowing down to change direction. With the icy field and him being a big guy, he doesn't cut like a RB. He kept moving forward.

He leaned back a little bit. It doesn't take much to get the defenders to pull off. They don't want a 15 years penalty. Watch it on real time. He is at a full run. He slows up and his body shifts back a little. The defenders also fall off.... Then Josh shifts and takes off.

If the QB crosses the line of scrimmage, he should be considered a running back and lose all special protections for being a QB.

In super slow motion sure. Realistically the only way he could pull up in time is if he was planning on hitting him with half effort. That is not enough to bring him down you can’t have it both ways

If he continued in the direction he was going he would have been tackled all he did was hold up to change direction

    And it worked

They were talking about it right as they went to the halftime show, then didn’t mention it at all. It was real brief as they were showing the play.

The slide while you’re in between tackles and then the fake head throw has to be looked at.

I gotta agree with this. The complaint is that he may have taken advantage of a non-rule. Can't knock Allen for that. Hate the game, not the player.

I don't care if it was a fake slide or not. The fact is that defensive players play timid in fear of flags and fines.

Simple solution even though they'll never do it: If you run past the line of scrimmage, you are a runner! No protections.

Missed tackle is a missed tackle. Call it like you see it. Stop with the nonsense complaints.

You can't tell Me it didn't look like He was giving Himself up. You don't have to slide to give Yourself up, and if You give Yourself up, and a D player nails You....You can be ejected. This needs to be looked at....plus the thing I have been say forever, and I never hear anyone else bringing up. When most of these Qbs that like to run take off....watch the OL push the DL in the back as they turn around to pursue. That is a penalty, and never gets called.

I think Pickett's was more obvious, but upon further review, it did look like he leaned back as if he was going to slide. I'm not sure if it was an intentional fake or just changing his mind, but the defense has no chance there. My apologies to whoever it was who brought this up on another thread and I dismissed it. (I think it was Brice.) Upon further review, I see it now.

It's not just about the big hit. Tackling is about hitting and wrapping up. Allen runs like a ****ing fullback. You can't just walk up to him and hug him to the ground.

If kazee would have touched him, nfl would have fined him and told him he had to sit next year.

We need to stop getting bothered by defense letting up. Because this is now the way the nfl wants to be is a big p...

It looked like a fake slide that put the defenders on their heels to me. No different than these QBs that motion towards going out of bounds, then turn up the field for more yards. Should the defender go at them, they step out of bounds and look for the flag. Defenders are put into these crazy situations whereby they need to change their momentum.

It also looked like on the Myles Jack penalty that he tried to change his body so it wasn’t a full hit. And yet, there’s a flag.

And get fined, suspended, or both. They took 1/4 of Kazee’s pay. It has a real time effect

Was Kazee even on the field? Honestly, I didn't notice him once. Maybe the fine and suspension got to him.

I know it would scare me. Do you want to play for another contract or risk being fined and having to sit out 2024?

I mentioned this to my son-in-law when we were watching the game. I asked him I wonder why Kazee hasn't played now that he is eligible.

My message to defenders would be to just ignore the slide rule - unless the guy is already down. I’m sure the league wouldn’t like hearing that, but QB’s like Allen and Mahomes bend the slide rule too much.

To his credit, I don’t remember Lamar pulling stuff like this even though he runs frequently. Although maybe he does it too - I don’t know. The bottom line is once you’re past the line of scrimmage, you should be fair game.

I think all of this can be avoided if the QB gets no protection once they pass the line of scrimmage. You can slide all day with protection until you become a runner.

Problem is fines and suspensions. The big money guys can deal with a 40k fine. The role players are looking at whole game checks and getting suspended cost them money and opportunity as well.

We're so used to saying how these guys get paid millions to play a game, that we fail to remember that these guys get paid weekly game checks and the minimum salary is @ $750K. Take a player like Kazee and missing 3 games checks cost him @200k! he has a base of $1 million this year add in the other fines he received and he's at $250k for the season. Remember that base is before taxes and IIRC they pay taxes per game check and it they play in some states they get taxed for that game check in that state. That's some serious money out of his pocket.

Nothing is going to fix this until they make the QB legal to hit as a RB or any other offensive player with the ball would be after he passes the LOS. Roughing the QB penalties are way too soft these days and they completely take advantage of it.
