I’m not sure Tomlin stays. I hope he doesn’t. He’s taken this team as far as he can and even with more talent, I don’t see anything better than what he did between 2011 to 2018.

if Mason gets a great chance to start for a decent/talented team he should probably take it

He is just as good or better than about 20 starters in the league right now.

But look at the drive charts. The Steelers first 6 drives were punt, punt, fumble, punt, int, punt. I don't disagree that defense played badly, but Rudolph and the offense were equally bad in this game. You can't have your first 6 drives end like that and expect to win.

I'd like to keep Mason around as a back up for a couple of years.

If I never saw Pickett's face again, that would be fine with me.

I was telling a cousin the other day, that during Covid, not for one second was I afraid of it. I didn't want to get it, but I was never fearful of it.

I bring this up because it mirrors my feelings on Pickett. Not for ONE second, at any point in time, have I been excited about him. There's never been ONE moment, while watching him, that I said "Whoa!" out loud. He's the worst case scenario in my eyes. He's just good enough that he keeps getting chances, yet he's probably the 34-36th best QB to start this season. But, he's a first rd pick, so we're married to him for a long time.

We're in for a long down time. This team is nowhere. Worst playoff team I've seen.

The offense was pretty putrid in the first half. It was clear they were going to run with 22 up the gut, and throw outs for the entire first half. Bills had the box stacked and Tomlin kept pounding 22 into it. Then they would try an out pass, because that all Pickett can throw but somehow it still in the play book, and the DB's were sitting on it and got the interception.

Late in the second quarter, they started going more down the middle and they started moving the ball, until they get to RZ, and then it's 22 running up the gut again.

    Just putrid offensive planning.

Where were the deep passes? They only did 1 and that was from their own RZ and it was a big play until Friermuth fumbled it. Even Romo kept saying they need to go deep once in a while.

I wouldn't mind seeing Mason back as a back up, but I hope we've finally seen the last of Tomlin

No pressure on Allen at all, except for the 1 sack. Did they even once try to blitz?

They also lost their 5th straight playoff game giving up 30+ points. They tend to never learn from their mistakes. Which is why they are a middle of the road organization these days.

Since Tomlin will be back, I hope Mason goes somewhere he's wanted and can be given a legitimate shot. Deserves better than what the Steelers can give him.

It looks like Mason really did raise the level of his game. He is probably better than a number of the very worst starters in the NFL.

I think we will end up paying him what he could get elsewhere. Kenny is not all that durable IMO.

From where I sit and if I was advising him, I would tell him to sign elsewhere. it is pretty simple. The Steelers do not want him nor do they want a real QB competition. They lied to him 2 years ago so what makes things any different now? Get out of town as fast as you can.

Now, for all the Mason haters, here is a guy that didn't even play last year. Got that? This year he did not play until 4 weeks ago. Yes, I know he got some pure garbage time 5 weeks ago. Many in here then want him to be the second coming of Manning or Brady. Everyone knows, it takes reps and reps to get a QB going. Yet, he comes in and without his play, there are no playoffs. It is simple as that.

Not sure where all this will go, but those of us old enough to remember the beating in the public and press with Bradshaw and then wonder why he does not want to come back to Pittsburgh. I know for a fact that Mason has often wondered why so many Pittsburgh fans hate him. Boo him etc. In his time with the team he as been asked to come in when the team needed a miracle then hate him when he doesn't lead them to a superbowl. Kenny has stunk for 2 years and Mitch has not been any good either with a number of teams, but all we hear with Kenny is give him time, 2 years is not enough, but 4 games is surely enough to see that Mason is a bum. Let's give Mason 2 years of starts then we can take a real look. He was 3-1 with one INT in 4 games again coming off the bench having not played at all for almost 2 years.

Finally, if anything can be said between all 3 QB's, I hang my hat on the fact that it appears, and yes I say, appears that Mason has the locker-room whereas Kenny and Mitch do/did not. I think the locker-room with the exception of Tomlin feel like he can get it done. Maybe he does not have the skill set of Mahomes, Allen or Lamar, but who does? I hope he packs his bag and shakes the dust off and moves on. He will never get any respect in Pittsburgh no matter how well he plays.

Agreed. I thought before the game started their only chance was to take shots down the field. There was no way they were going to beat the Bills straight up by playing conservative. I really think they game planned for bad weather, which they would have had on Sunday, and then when the game was moved to Monday they couldn't or wouldn't change the plans.

I'm Curious. What exactly is it that some of you don't like about Rudolph? Outside of the one pick, Rudolph kept them in the game yesterday.

In a 4 game sample size, Rudolph threw for 945 yards with 5 TDs and 1 Int. That is more than just better than the very worst NFL starters.

Mason will get offers to at least be the solid #2. He will get a nice pay raise in the realm of what Mitch the Pick got.

Why would he stay here? Why? Would you trust this franchise?

Thankful for his efforts. Would be happy to bump his salary and keep him as #2. As far as fair competition goes, if he is a starter anywhere that team is doomed for 9-8 or 10-7 at very best. He is not the answer.

Go Mason, Tomlin is not your friend. Get with a team that recognizes your talent and your future. Pickett is here to stay win, lose or draw. He is Tomlinson guy. This franchise your in is stuck in mind set if years ago, what Mr. Rooney started years ago but that thinking has changed but the Steelers won’t deviate from there tradition and guess what, it isn’t working. Wish you the best

Serious question. Why do you feel that way? What you just wrote seems to be the consensus.

What is it about Mason Rudolph that makes people think he can't be a legit starter? He plays with poise. He goes through his progressions. He pushes the ball downfield. He throws a great deep ball. His intermediate and short game is significantly better than what it was.

What is not to like? I think fans got so down on him back in 2019 that we just can't move past it.

there is probably some truth to this, sadly. I think Pickett is Tomlin's man, which is another reason why I HOPE Rooney steps in and ends the INSANITY
