They have the 3rd pick in the draft. Look for them to take either Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels there is no way they are going back to Mack Jones or Bailey Zappe.

Wow That was quick as hell. Now that has come to the light, makes sense that Belichick stepped down this year.

They knew he was leaving for awhile.

Moving on from Bill was more about making room for a new GM because he was never going to cede control over personnel decisions. His drafting and team building decisions in recent years have been nothing short of disastrous and they needed him out of the way.

Id have jumped at the chance to bring in Vrabel as HC personally but they clearly like Mayo and you never know how these appointments will work out.

Id be reluctant to use the #3 pick on a QB unless they absolutely love one of the players that falls to them. They have no Oline and no weapons. You are setting your new QB up for a very tough introduction to the NFL.

Trade back, get some Oline and receiver help and get a bridge QB for now. The roster is so bad that you are looking at a multi year rebuild anyway, and you’ll have wasted those valuable rookie contract years by the time you are in position to compete if you go QB now.

They needed a clause to get around the Rooney Rule to hire a black guy?

I love that Mayo is a TN Vol. But not sure he's ready for a HC gig yet. I wonder how much time Kraft will give him to turn things around.

Anyone know if they hired a GM?

I liked him as a player, I would
think they need to bring in a talented OC.
I dislike the Patriots so I really don't care!

I found that strange but I understand they are required to interview two minority/women candidates.

The way it was explained on Dan Patrick as it came out was for the year 2024, so the extension they gave Bill last year was to hopefully get him the all time wins, then he goes into the sunset. IDK if Bill knew about this clause, but he being the defacto GM you would think so, they must have a lot of faith in this guy to do that.

The GM thing is a head scratcher, but likely it is someone from within, or ties to the Org going back.

I heard, but I don't know for certain...one of Kraft sons will act in part as GM

Look at the Texans. Drafting a QB now doesn't mean his contract years will be wasted. A team can be turned around very quickly. When a potential franchise QB is there, you take him. You don't pass up the chance to draft a guy like that because it may not happen again.

    So weird.
Can't even hire a black guy without first interviewing other black guys they clearly aren't interested in. It's about time they scraped the Rooney rule. We spend too much time talking about race. The more we talk about it, the longer that divide will be there. Just start treating everyone equally

That’s fair. But it’s more likely they’ll get Zach Wilson rather than CJ Stroud where they are picking.

I did say in my post that if they love one of the QB’s at #3 then yeah of course you take them, but man that roster is dogs**t and will be a tough road for whoever they take

If what you say were true, then we'd have more black guys already coaching a game that the majority play. You should know better than that. The rule was implemented to address that issue.
