If it was almost anyone but Madden I might take a serious look at it, but that clown rags on anything that will get him looked at, fact is he may be correct, it likely is disrespectful to MR, but I don't think his staying in Pittsburgh will be about that listing. It will come down to who makes the best offer/best opportunity for him. Doubtful that come from the Steelers, but if it did, money covers a lot of bruised feelings.

Mark Madden is still running with the debunked fable that he invented that Pickett refused to suit up in Seattle.

I read this earlier. I do find it odd that Tomlin seems to go out of his way not to compliment Mason any more than he has to and Kenny remains QB1 on the depth chart. It’s like tough love for Mason and coddling for Kenny. Tomlin was effusive in his praise for Kenny last season and at times this season when he led the team to a TD drive in the 4th quarter to win a low scoring game after he essentially crapped the bed the first 3+ quarters.

I can see this. No two people respond the same way to the same things. Hell Cowher acted differently to different players, and I've heard Him talk about it. Because what breaks some players....fires up other players, and all have different buttons. Maybe He thinks Mason responds best to that way.

The context of this one has some merit. You've got QB 1 who was self proclaimed ready to go 3 weeks ago riding pine. If he's QB 1 then play him, starting a couple weeks ago. Playing the hot hand in a way says you don't have a #1. Tomlin is more or less telling Rudolph he's a token heading into the playoffs. Hey, you're the hot hand but that's all it is. The guy we're sitting on the pine is the real answer.

The author is correct. Tomlin has probably just told Rudolph to take a comparable offer elsewhere if he gets one because the scales will be weighed against him if he comes back to compete for the starting job next year. It's a shame since he is clearly a better quarterback right now than Pickett.

I’d rather try to choke down crappie covered in molasses onions and hot sauce than read anything Madden writes

I sure as hell wouldn’t post it here

It is disrespectful to rudolph & seems to be to protect Picketts feelings & Tomlins ego... Not to mention these yinzas that are so eager to paint Pickett as better than he is instead of what he could one day be with a little time on the bench...

I like and agree with this from the article:

"Rudolph saved the Steelers’ season. He got Tomlin’s overrated backside off the perceived hot seat. "

Madden is a click bait guy. I agree with a lot of his takes, but he's sort of a clown.

This was the first excellent Prince album. Yes, I'm a child of the 80's. 1981...it wasn't on MTV, like 1999 was.

I doubt Mason Rudolph or Kenny Pickett cares at the moment how they are listed on depth chart. It’s well known and completely understandable the order of the task at hand this week. MR is the starter and KP is the back up. Madden is the most ignorant hometown sports writer probably in the history of sports. I would never take anything seriously that this guy says about Pittsburgh Steelers football.

Speaking of bait. Madden is like that last worm of the dozen that you bought at 5 am and you been fishing all day but nothing is biting so you keep peeling them off trying the next one. Meanwhile it’s 95 degrees outside these slimy things have been baking in the sun all day. Finally you put that Mark Madden on that #10 brass hook at 9 pm still hoping to finally hook that record rainbow trout. It’s so slimy that when you cast out the MM of the sun soaked bloated worm bait flys off your hook and lands right at the mouth of the trout but the trout even turns its nose up and swims the other way. Some worthless Carp finally chews it up and gets sick and ends up a floater the next morning.

Wow. Quite the imagination there! There's still merit to it regardless of what anybody thinks of Madden.

What depth chart are they referring too? Do teams submit a weekly depth chart to the NFL? I guess they would need to submit something to the NFL to let the NFL know their current 53 man roster and practice squad players, but would it need to include a depth chart.

And then, after the season is over do teams still have to submit a depth chart to the NFL on a weekly basis? I remember the controversy around the Steelers depth chart to start last season with Mason listed as #2 and Kenny #3. Is this something that is done every game, including postseason?

Did the Steelers submit a new Depth Chart to the NFL this week with Kenny as #1 and Mason as #2? You know they would have had to submit a new depth chart for Week 18, making Mitch the emergency 3rd string QB and promoting Kenny out of the #3 spot.
