Haley likely to interview with Arizona this week

Jackson would be my clear #1, and I don't think Tomlin Era would mind having him, either, although he prefers Norv Turner. The Raiders went from total crap as a team to respectable with a potent offense under Jackson, and he's rewarded by getting fired by Al Davis' son. We all know that Kirby Wilson would be the guy, though.

 

This is sarcastic right? Here is hoping for Chan Gailey also.

 

Yeah if Haleys is one and done its really going to discourage the Rooney from hiring from outside even more so then they already do.

 

Listening to Adam Schefter this morning, it sounds like Ray Horton may have the inside track. My question is...WHY?

true i forgot about gailey. i really don't take much to account of what players do in NY. or coaches. there is alot less distractions here then they deal with there. starting with the HC,media,glitz and glamour. kirby i'm sure will get it but i'm not thrilled about it.

 

It's all very basic:

Lesson #1. You do NOT bring in an OC who you know will butt heads with your franchise QB. That's something the NY Jets would do, and look how "efficient" our offense was this year.

Lesson #2. You make sure you bring in an OC your franchise QB will want to work with and respect. That's something the NY Jets would NOT do!

I'm hopeful that Haley is out of here ASAP. I believe Ben would work with and greatly respect Chan Gailey. If Chan Gailey could put a system in place to make Neil O'Donnell and Kordell Stewart successful, what would he be able to do w/ a REAL QB?

Maybe his agent said no interview because he didn't want to be interviewed.

 

this is getting interesting.. some reports say he is doing the interview today, some are saying he is not.. flip a coin at this point.

The reports keep changing here. For a while, it was a foregone conclusion that the job was Horton's. Now, all of a sudden, one of KTAR's (the Phoenix affiliate for ESPN radio) top radio hosts is speculating that the only reason Haley has come here for an interview is because it's now his job to lose. Who knows.

 

If the Steelers now have to hire a new OC, I'd prefer it to be a guy who has burned his bridges as a head coach. Two names come to mind, as mentioned in this thread: Chan Gailey and Norv Turner. I do not believe either man will ever be a head coach again in this league. I could be wrong, but both have not done so well on multiple occasions. There might be a third name to add to this list, if he gets fired: Mike Mularkey. This is the guy I would prefer.

 

Haley's agent is the one using this smoke screen.
