While watching the game the other night, and I have watched Bama
before. They seem so focused in all facets of the game. Disciplined,
fundamentally sound, aggressive. Why can't pro teams be as focused as these
Alabama teams. Now granted I know that most college teams may have
a handful of pro players on their roster, but ND is no slouch when it comes
to recruiting. It was like men PLAYING with boys out there. Why can't
our coaching staff get the same focus out of are players?

I could have sworn McCarron told Saban he was proud of him after the game.

I think it has to do with the f act that it is college kids vs pros......the college kids have to do that so they arent benched or so they can impress the pro scouts the pros have already made their dough so they dont have to as focused

Cause these kids are hungry for the big money. Then a couple of years in the NFL they can relax like some of the real pros:rolleyes:

Let's not forget Saban gave the NFL a shot and the only success he had was gigging Wes Welker to his good buddy Belichick

I asked this same thing of a fromer player last year. He laughed at me. apparently the big difference is money. He said all nfl players are focused cause it is their life. it is a year round job and you have to be. the college players have a choice. you have classes and college life to deal with. he said saban has figured out a way to get his players to live for football. he tells me all the time a 16 game season in the nfl is a hard thing for fans to understand. the metal and physical toll it takes on you body is unbelievable. I watch him now and know what he is talking about. he is 42 played 10 yrs i think with the rams and pats. its hard for him to get out of bed. my point is i dont think it is about focus. I think it is all about health and coaching. I know some players are better than others but if you stay healthy and put the players in the right place to execute. You win more than you lose.

Like he said though, he never had full control when he was coaching in the NFL. He didn't get to make the moves he wanted to make, get the players he wanted, get all the coaches he wanted, etc. I bet if he were to return to the NFL and have full control like many other coaches do, he'd be successful

Probably helps that the Alabama players could focus on football, while the other team was distracted by taking classes and getting an education.

There was a time Pete Carroll flopped in the NFL as well. His Seattle team is starting to look really good though.

I suppose the Saban fire and focus was quite evident on that play where McCarron and his center almost got in a fist fight right on the field for a delay of game. That's high octane right there. Unless of course AJ was just trying to impress the announcers and some lady in the stands.

Certainly agree with this...but when I watched the Redskins/Seattle game...the skins were pumped up and focused the entire first qtr until RGIII got hurt. Seattle was focused the rest of the game. Denver and NE are focused every game they play. I definitely think young college kids are more focused...especially with motivational coaches like Saban...but as far as the NFL goes...we are in bottom 5 in my opinion of focused and disciplined teams...sad.

If you remember sabin ran out of Miami under the cover of darkness. He wasn't hacking it in the NFL. That's why
