He gets on Facebook and and list the Steelers defensive ranking for the last five years, to prove to people who say LeBeau is too old and doesn't know what he's doing. Like some of the fans responded then why can't the defense stop average qb's like Carson Palmer, Matt Hasselbeck, Philip Rivers when the game was on the line in the 4th quarter.

I've said it too many times before: Lebeau has made some key adjustments in his defensive strategy in the last few years, which has led directly to less sacks and turnovers, but has kept us up there in the rankings. We're not blitzburgh anymore. So I can see why the likes of Harrison or Ike can get shirty about the criticisms.

However. All the rankings in the world can't bring a superbowl win, let alone justify an 8-8 season.

The reason we are not in the playoffs is Ben got hurt and never recovered. Why did Ben play then? Because Tomlin is hanging on to two barnacles that can't find the bathroom unless they smell sh*t. And like Shannahan, Tomlin needs to take charge and sit Ben on his ass when he is clearly hurt but like I said, he had no one to go to.

If the offense lived up to their potential, we wouldn't have to worry about average QBs having a chance to beat us in he 4th quarter.

Heck, if the offense could have scored a measly 14 points in Cincy we'd be in the playoffs.

    Gee, Thanks for reminding me......
And probably 21 points in a few other games... Don`t remember the exact totals, but it wasn`t like I remember other teams puttin 28 points plus, on the board, against us.
I honestly thought we should be capable of scoring 31 points per game, with the players we had...
    Damn, was I wrong...
And to add insult, to injury, your signature, shows Keisel doing the "Bow Hunter", thing I had seen him do a TON of times, before, the ref`s decided it was "taunting", against the Bungles...
Thanks, again, for reminding me... You son of a ....:bsux::rules::butcher:
    GO STEELERS!!!

O.K. ... 15 yards for "taunting", on TomlinEra...
    Question being...
Do you really believe that deserved a flag for "taunting", considering all the other "Sack Dances", that other players, like Ray-Ray, Shawne Merriman, etc, have done over the years?...
Not to mention Joey Porter, Jason Gildon, Levon Kirkland, Greg Lloyd, etc???
C`mon Man... I do kinda get sick of the offensive players celebrating every first down they make...
I`m kinda "old school", and I appreciate a player like Heath, who just hands the ball to the ref, after he scores a touchdown.
And, I know Jack Lambert would never have "celebrated" a sack, at least, not with a choreographed dance...
But, nowadays, with how difficult it is to hit a qb hard, and not get penalized,...
Why SHOULDN`T the defender be allowed to celebrate?!?
It could almost be seen as... "Yeah, I plowed his ass into the ground, without getting penalized for it"!!!!
Really... Just look at how timid Silverback has had to become...
"Should I lay a pillow down for him first"?
If they hit `em clean, and hard, I consider that an exceptional play, that deserves to be celebrated!!!
    Sorry.
Didn`t mean to hijack this thread... Maybe we should start another(although it`s been talked about here, before)...
I just couldn`t understand, when they called a penalty on him for sumthin he has done his whole career...
Ain`t like he pulled a sharpie out of the goalposts... Ain`t like it was worse than any Linebacker`s "Sack dance", that they use to sell their video games...
    But...
All of a sudden that is a 15 yard penalty, + 1st down???
    BULL****!!!!
Again, Sorry... I know this ain`t the topic of the thread. Just had to vent.
    Go Steelers!!!

We're seriously still playing the blame game between Offense and Defense this year? Cripes guys, if you can't see equal blame ("D" sucked early, "O" sucked late) you're all blind. Heck the ST's sucked all season... Plenty of blame to be shared by all, including the coaching staff.

We are a very unexciting defense that has 1 playmaker.
    on it Lawerence Timmons.

I believe DL held back this year on pass rushing because he knew that he just didn't have the play makers that he has had in the past.
    - Silverback has eased way up thanks to all of the fines from Roger and penalties from the referee's mandating that he change his game.
    - His best run stopper Aaron Smith being gone.
    - Woodley being out of shape thus losing a step after the big contract
    - Polamalu starring in more commercials than on the field.
    - Again below average back up CB's (although they became better near the end of the season).
    - Clark, see Silverback above.
    - Taylor still can cover but can't catch an INT to save his life.
    - Worilds couldn't break through the Oline.
    - Hamptons one dimensional.
    - Haywood showing improvement but still not there yet.
Kiesel and Timmons were really the only playmakers out there for this defense.
Bottom line this defense became physically soft and its time to re-tool. When they are that non agressive and he still has a top 2 defense statistically then I would say he did a very good job.

I do agree with the poster that said Defense stunk 1st half of the season, Offense stunk 2nd half and ST's stunk thoughout.

That's all true but I thought that you were supposed to get better to play your best football in Nov/Dec and start to peak at the playoffs. That's why 6 seeders have been winning Super Bowls. The offense and ST's let us down in my opinion.

The Steelers have to score more points to keep up in the modern NFL. They only scored more than 30 once this season.

This is true. I miss some of those games where the score was low and the defense was what made the game exciting, more-so than the offense. Not likely to happen as much these days, unless you have a really bad weather game like the Steelers/Dolphins 3-0 game in 2007.
