Tomlin said today that Mason's success is due to our great running game forcing single safety in the middle of the field looks.
Maybe he should go with Kenny on Saturday, let's roll the dice and see how it goes.

I think it’s actually the opposite which is complimentary of the other. The running game has been successful due to the threat of Mason’s passing game.

They have to compliment one another, its a total team game. Mason has been making good decisions, not panicking in the pocket and distributing the ball. That backs off the look of just putting 8 in the box every play.

I totally agree with you. My point is that Mason’s success isn’t just due to the run game. Unfortunately, Kenny and Mitch haven’t done enough to open up the run game with their passing game. One is complimentary of the other while the others’ game is detrimental.

It started with the right opponent. Not only are the Bengals bad, but they also had visions of the way the Steelers moved the ball on them the first time around. They were worried about getting gouged by Freiermuth and the running game. That led them to stupidly try to cover Pickens one-on-one for most of the game. That let the Steelers get on a roll. I keep bringing up the hot goaltender analogy a friend of mine suggested. That's what we are seeing. Does that mean you stick with him now? Yes. Does that mean you go with Matt Murray/Mason Rudolph long-term? Maybe not.

Tomlin not going to give Mason the credit he is due. MT is not a real leader

If Madden is the source, there is no reason to take it seriously.

He was complimentary of Rudolph. He just understands that there was more going on than his play the last two weeks, including the running game and the lousy opposing defenses.

Ha. Was just seeing a headline a half hour ago with this personality Madden on Twitter claiming he heard this. I never heard of the guy but I am not local. Phew...nothing to see here.

You may be right that the last two weeks is a small sampling and the offensive line and running game has been outstanding. But I think the fact that there has been so much excitement about Mason’s play and the overall offensive performance with him under center the previous two weeks is a sad indictment of just how crappy the quarterbacks and overall offensive unit have played for the better part of the last two seasons. As Steeler fans,we’ve been wanting something, anything to cheer about on offense and we’ve had that the last two games. The offense had become painful to watch. Now it’s actually enjoyable to watch.

Stats speak. He can say politically whatever he wants but stats speak. Mason had borderline elite game against the Bungels. Not as good statistically against the Seahawks but if he scored one passing TD it would have been another borderline elite outing, meaning, other than scoring a TD he was really on point. Sharp.

Thats why I did not Top Post, but likely as answer we will never know, if healthy, even without many snaps, why did he not dress? Even designated 3rd string he would not have counted against the 45 (or 6)..so in a must win game, why not?

Mason’s willingness to stand in the pocket and make his reads is better for the O-line to do their jobs. Kenny’s bailing out after the first read leads to holding penalties as the line doesn’t know where he is going behind them and blocking becomes more than just keeping the guy in front of them.

This has been the year of the backup QB no doubt.
It is also the year of the knee-jerk reaction.

Madden sure knows how to stir the crap pot.
Kenny hasn't taken a snap since Dec 3.
But the Steelers are magnets regrettably and speculation is like an August wildfire.

    Mostly this reflects on Tomlin.
If there was no agreement to dress or no dress, Tomlin should have controlled and enforced.

If this situation is made-up by Madden, as is often the case, Tomlin should light him up.

Pickett was comparable in his one full game without Canada, which was also against the Bengals.

I gotta ask out of curiosity..... why are you here?

When I look at this Steelers Roster, I'm thinking this is a 4/5/6 win team at best.
Add in Canada, 4 wins seems optimistic.
Granted, Tomlin is part of the reason why, but it does take a village.
There's room for improvement across the board.

I feel like you're that kid in "Once Upon a Time in the West" (later becomes Charles Bronson, the Harmonica playing revenge guy)
And the Steelers are playing Frank.
Lots of venom there. I'm not sure I want to be in the room Sunday afternoons there. :)

There are others here that are worse, probably kick the dog and throw stuff. lol.
