If Mason does good against ravens. He better be the starter for next year as well. He's nothing like 2019. He has depth and awareness. And I love that he doesn't run off he doesn't see something within 3 seconds.

No. Time to get legit veteran offensive coaches with a proven track record of success

Yeah, some play calling in crucial times was dumbfounding. Not horrible but perplexing. Todd Haley still with the living?

Hire a new OC and give Mason the keys to 2024.

Hit it to the "H to the E to double L NO!!!"

For that matter, remove Tomlin's ability to make the call on that. Have Kahn/Weidl scout out the next OC in 2024. As I said before and will again, if Tomlin has an issue, he can go grab a tissue.

No way. They maybe retained in some capacity but neither Faulkner or Sullivan will be brought back as OC. I like both of those guys, but the Steelers need to really up their game from an OC perspective.

EXACTLY! Tomlin is incapable of hiring a quality offensive coordinator!

I thought playcalling was excellent especially on that drive when the game was in balance and Seahawks lead 14-10m and we got the ball on offense, they did not do anything stupid, did not put undue pressure on QB to throw the ball but ran it patiently. They were very much poised and in control and did not panic. Then they mixed it up with that boom boom drive where we went like the length of the field in 3 plays to score. Really nice.

Tomlin is incapable of understanding how modern NFL Offenses work. Just because teams like the 49ers, Dolphins, Ravens and even the Rams use a lot of motions or feature a lot of pre snap movements doesn't automatically mean they are running the exact same plays. There are nuances to these Offenses that are already pre installed for personnel success. Those motions and pre snap movements alone are only adding another element that simply wasn't there before. In short?!

A great Offense will be a great Offense; no matter what form of pre snap motion is used for the Offenses themselves are designed to exploit personnel weaknesses of the defense by playing into the Offenses hands. A bad Offense uses motion as a basis to attempt to hide deficiencies within the structure of the Offense for the Offensive Game Plan simply isn't either good enough or lacks any sort of rhythm to it.

Now, it is very clear that you need a QB to pull this off. That however leads to another problem with this Coaching Staff; drafting Mason Rudolph and giving him no QB Coach or even Offensive Assistant for a number of years. Hell, it wasn't until 2020 that he finally got one. Even then, the Offense was still very Big Ben centric (as it should have been at the time). However, once Big Ben was gone, so too went the explosive plays. Kenny was/is supposed to alleviate this but as far as I can tell, this staff cannot even get him to get going right. Mind you, he was a Heisman Finalist at Pitt and I severely doubt his ability to chuck the apple just disappeared. Part of this Sophomore Slump can be blamed on Picket for there were times that, even with Canada calling plays, dude simply wasn't seeing the field well enough. However, given how this Offense was supposed to be setup for the run to assist with the pass..... um.... why not nab a Center?! An actual one?! Better yet, why not place Offensive Lineman in their correct spots to actually contribute more to this cause?!

Never mind just the lack of developing QBs, I believe that both @KnoxVegasSteel@KnoxVegasSteel and @HeinzMustard@HeinzMustard have been right regarding this very same aspect; Tomlin can acquire talent but cannot properly orchestrate that talent. He did in his earlier years but post Big Ben?! Yikes!!!

Probably true, but Pickens has his own issues he still needs to iron out. He was great today. Even threw a key block on Warren's TD run. But he needs to understand every game isn't going to go the way he wants it to.

I don’t think Mason is a legit long term answer, but if he’s actually the guy he’s been the last two weeks then he should be starting over Pickett. I know George Pickens will be banging the doors down to keep Mason out there haha kid has straight balled with him out there (and unfortunately we all know what he thinks about Pickett)

It’s definitely true. I think both the WR’s have had issues with Pickett and his inability to get the ball consistently to his WR’s. Doesn’t excuse some of the childish behavior, but DJ wasn’t an issue pre Pickett and Pickens could easily be more in check while being involved in the offense. I think you see much better attitudes from both of them when we finally move on from Kenny.

Well, you'll have to excuse my skepticism. I don't think any one player should feel the need to be catered to because they might sulk and quit on plays if they aren't getting their touches. I don't care how good they are, and I don't give a damn why their panties were twisted. Tomlin butchered that situation plain and simple.

I don’t disagree, I’m just pointing out the way it is. Childish for sure, but the reason why we’ve had attitude problems from the WR’s this year is because Kenny and Mitch sucked.

DJ and Pickens may not have handled things the best way possible, but can you really blame them? They were being forced to play with a QB who can't consistently get them the ball, because the front office spent a first round pick on said QB and overspent on another lousy backup QB. All while the best option was left sitting on the bench... not to mention playing in a scheme with one of the worst offensive coordinators in recent memory. Their livelihood literally depends on QB play and the OC. I'd be pissed too.

I think they have to go through a hiring process, don't they? I think for the head coach, DC and OC positions it requires interviewing multiple candidates per the Rooney rule.
