When I visited Seattle, there was something grimy about it. I have seen homeless in other cities, but Seattle had that feeling of depression like no other. The weather was grimy and even the nice parts of the downtown weren’t nice. The major attraction Pike’s place has either fish or marijuana smell coming from it. Another attraction is chewing gum wall… come on. Pittsburgh has cloudy weather, but majority of people don’t look like they haven’t showered in couple of days. I don’t know if it’s the climate, but I didn’t see one attractive young women. They weren’t ugly, but just meh with bulky clothes and mousy hair and unathletic bodies.

A couple years ago I spent about 5 weeks between Shilshole and Ballard and another 6 weeks in Portland. Portland had more visible homeless but, Seattle was WAY dirtier. I'd be hesitant to go around their stadium even in the day on non-game days!

One of the places I've never been to in the States is anywhere north west. I actually try staying away from the west all together. LoL Arizona is as far as I've been.

For scenery, it's hard to beat coastal west coast. It's the people that ruin it. Think of the "Smug" episode of South Park. You should see the Sierra, Yosemite, the Redwoods, Sequoias. There are some very scenic spots in OR. The San Juans in WA........

Stay away is good policy. San Francisco is not only dirty and expensive, but has crazies. I was getting back to my hotel room after dinner and this crazy Chinese guy started shouting at me and cursing me and wanted to fight me, saying he would tear my head off, cut me etc. I had no idea, he picked on me. I ignored him, but kept an eye on just in case he decided to attack me with a knife, I was staying near the Trump building and there was a Jeep with loudspeaker blaring anti Trump message (F words etc) going round and round till late night (This is not a political message). Smell of Pee and homeless crazies everywhere panhandling. I am glad I don't live there. Truly a city in decline.

It went past decline years ago! My stepson lived downtown SF about 5 years ago. not too far from city hall. He and his girlfriend walked everywhere and played a game called "guess the species of the feces". A lot of the stores in the area have now closed down due to the homeless and addicts and shoplifting. He told me of one morning, there was a protest on the steps of city hall. Two guys protesting something while completely naked. No arrests were made.

    Agreed

It’s been years but I did British Columbia Oregon Washington and Northern California in a variety of trips both coastal and inland

Absolutely beautiful and I loved Seattle but that was 20-25 years ago

Some of the best scenery in the world

I've vacationed in Newport Beach. Man, the drive along the ocean on California Route 1 is unbelievable. I would suggest anyone to rent a car and take a very long drive along that coastline for miles and miles and miles. Just incredible beauty. Breathtaking.

I love Seahawks fans. They're the easiest fans to spin up when talking ball since 80% of them came into existence after the Super Bowl win and season.

The area isn't that bad, except for my gum wall. They can keep that
