Cowher is unquestionably the better coach he put up his numbers with average to below average QB play his entire career (until the last couple with Ben)

And with Ben,Cowher was 27-4(22-3 in the regular season and 5-1 in the playoffs) in 2004 and 2005 when Ben was his starter!

Imagine if Cowher got the type of QB play MT had for all those years that he did so little with besides the .500 or slightly above thing.

Roethlisberger would have been 3rd string...if Tommy, and C. Batch didn't get hurt. Hell He was 3rd string until it all happened. Bell was an outlier. If You go, and look at all the draft picks with Tomlin, and Cowher, and count up who's got on the field 1st....Tomlin got more..., and I'm not talking special teams. This is not saying Tomlin is better, or worse than Cowher....it's just disproving what was said thats all.

Imagine if imagination made things actually happen. LoL. I Love Cowher, but I saw a HC that thought He didn't need a good Qb....Hell there is a lot of rumors He didn't want Ben.....So Good thing....like they do with Tomlin.....the owner, and GMs actually did the drafting.

I honestly wouldn't mind a change at head coach simply because he has been here pushing 20 years. I think a fresh start for him and the Steelers would be a good thing.

But if he gets extended, I'm ok with it as long as the rest of the staff isn't kept. Faulkner and Sullivan can't be promoted and Austin should be let go. Hire fresh faces with no ties to the organization and let them handle their respective assignments and tell Tomlin to stay in his lane.

For the defense it was more of a Dick Lebeau thing.I mean, Heyward was a full time starter only in his 3rd year...Same thing for Timmons...Lamar Woodley was a full time starter in his 2nd season. All under LeBeau-Tomlin

But there's no good reason this year it took that long for Joey Porter Jr to be a starter....And I still don't understand why Jones isn't playing his natural position at the LT position even if Moore is one of the worst LTs in the NFL this year

For Ben in 2004, it was the norm in the NFL at this time to wait and be patient to start the rookie QB since at this time, only Dan Marino had been great in his rookie season before 2004.... The rest of the time the rookie QBs were often below average like Peyton Manning as example....But things changed since the great rookie season of Roethlisberger

Jones is not starting at Lt...because You don't hurt two places to fix one. Moore, and Jones are our best two tackles right now.., and Jones plays rt better than Moore does. So if You put Jones at LT....we would be better at Lt(maybe), and forsure worse at RT.

Some knucklehead in another post said Jones should not be starting with no further explanation

Yes every team has players that act immature. However some teams bench those players and if their attitude doesn’t change they are cut or traded. Every team moves at a different pace. Do you see JuJu doing tictoc dances on team logos in New England (hello no). Tomlin allowed Chase Claypool to start and act like an idiot for years. The Bears benched chase and eventually cut that player in 11 months. Your response implies nobody can control these players which is not true.your starters act like that if you allow it

Well it's easier to get rid of a guy that You didn't draft, or that didn't do anything for you with Claypool. Just like We played T. Edmunds his whole contract....yet the Eagles played him a few games, and said nope. As far a JuJu....You don't think Je might not do it now because He finally learned His lesson by being let go???

JuJu stopped dancing on logos while he was a Steeler at Tomlin’s behest.

Claypool performed poorly but he wasn’t a problem otherwise.

Yeah celebrating a first down and letting the clock run making the Steelers lose. I am sure none of Claypool’s teammates were upset. When asked after the game he still didn’t take responsibility.

What??? We got Claypool in the 2nd round, the Bears trade was a 2nd round, and He actually had 12 tds for us, and 1 for them.

I consider that performing poorly. You are talking about off field stuff and outside of that street fight, he was pretty squeaky clean in that regard.

It has to suck when you add that 2006 season that brings those numbers down, doesn't it? I mean, 35 and 12 doesn't sound as impressive as 27-4.

Ok… I get your point that there are fans who blame Tomlin for things that are not his doing, but I think you go way too far in absolving him from at least partial responsibility for some issues - in this case being a part of drafting decisions. To paraphrase Bill Parcels, of course a coach has input into player acquisition because you can’t cook if you’re not allowed to buy the groceries. Also, Colbert was on record years ago as saying that setting up the draft board was a collaborative effort that included Tomlin. Also, why do you think the Steelers send Tomlin and position coaches to so many college pro days? Are they just there for the GM and scouts to have someone to travel with? The answer is no, they are there to provide input. During the Colbert years, the Steelers’ first round pick was almost always a player who met with both Colbert and Tomlin at the players’ pro days. Do you think Colbert said “hey Mike, I’m taking this guy and don’t give a flying @$#& what you think.” Of course not.

The year that Ben had his accident and that Cowher had lost his passion to coach?

    1. Bill Parcells was His own GM...except when He was coach of the Cowboys.
    2. I do get mad at Tomlin a lot. Just pay attention during game day. I just don't hate Him, or anyone enough to blame Him for things that aren't under his control.
    3. Of course He has some input, but not final input, and of course they send Him out....we have had one of the smaller scouting teams in the NFL for along time....so they need another scout, and they already pay Tomlin.
I'm not an apologist....I'm a realist. I get pissed about many things He does. Like I said watch the game day threads.
Some on Here blame Him from coaching, to drafting, to FA acquirement, to calling the D, and the offense. LoL. Alway down to telling KFP, and ,or Trubisky what route to throw. LoL. The man carries around a 3 by 5 inche card. If He's calling all those plays , routes, and everything.....He must have a phenomenal memory, and great processing power. LoL.
Hell My friend half the people that say this stuff don't really believe it. They just know the hate for the man is so bad...that people will agree. I know they don't....because they will say Great draft pick GM.....terrible draft pick Tomlin. Great FA pickup GM.....Terrible FA pickup Tomlin. The same people. LoL
