Is this the one we saw that didn't bring a flag but they said would probably result in a fine (that won't matter because the season is over)?

Yeah that HUGE amount of money will surely deter him from doing something like that again!

I wonder how they come up with the price for that fine? You would think it would be more round of a number like $8,000 or $7,900 or something like that.

The sad part to this fine, is Phil Taylor was fined $7,875 for unnecessary roughness and blindsiding Kelvin Beachum which caused a concussion, and could have potentially kept him out of a playoff game if we would have made it. But Goodell just fined Michael Crabtree and Frank Gore both $10,500 a piece for throwing a football into the stands after they both scored. And Goodell says he's focused on player safety? How is throwing a ball into the stands a higher price than illegally blindsiding someone and injuring them? There is no system to any of this, Goodell just makes things up as he goes along. Pathetic

Theres different levels of fines for different "acts" and then theres repeat offenders and such. Not sure if Crab/Gore are repeaters or not but that could be why. Who knows...while it seems odd...and none of us like any of this crap...there is a system/method to the madness unfortunately.

Anyone have video of the cheapshot?
    Youtube link, or whatever?
    I don`t remember the play.
I read about it afterwards, and can`t really comment on it until I actually see the play.
I could watch the game on dvr, until I see the play in question, but I`m just too lazy for all that right now...
Basically, my knee-jerk reaction to it, is...
    SO WHAT?!?!
Unless, it was an EXTREMELY blatant, attempt to break his neck, or sumthin, LET `EM PLAY!!!
It was a rivalry game(Even if we have beat `em, like 18 outta the last 20 games, or so), and i saw plenty of "scrapping" after the play, like I would expect, when any 2 division teams play each other.
Sure, Good `Ole Rodge, has tried to change the game, but, personally, I miss the fighting, and nastiness that SHOULD be involved in this sport(IMHO)....
I ain`t gonna cry, when other teams try to "cheap shot" our players...
I am gonna expect OUR players, to hit them back harder... Penalties/fines, be damned!!:butcher:

Legursky had a very good chance to do just that but didn't pull the trigger. Taylor was standing around watching a play die as Legursky came up to block, but didn't even touch him as he noticed that Taylor was just watching. Then the whistle blew a the chance was over. I think if it was Pouncey, Taylor would've been laid out, as Maurkice seemed to be the only one who cared that Taylor laid a cheap shot on Beachum. Doug could've flattened that dude in a perfectly legal retribution hit but didn't even touch him. I was a little irked. Taylor played like a goober all game long.

Also if a fan gets hit with a football from not looking or diving trying to catch it there could be a lawsuit toward the NFL.

considering how much most of these guys get paid, these fines are laughable..... it's like one of us putting a quarter in a parking meter..... if the league is going to give out rediculous fines, then they simply should make the offender pay his victim instead of putting more money into the league office's pocket.

While I mostly agree with this statement it still doesn't change the fact that there are now rules in place. The point is there doesn't seem to be any consistency with the way Goodell handles these matters. That's my biggest issue. He's a hypocrite, plain and simple. He wants to preach player safety but his actions doesn't prove it. I'd love to let the players have at it, but king Goodell says no way. I don't think anyone here is crying over the "cheap shot". We just don't like the way Goodell handles them. That's my take at least.

All that is usually covered by the rights when you buy a ticket. Just like in Baseball and hockey, every ticket usually has warnings about balls and pucks coming into the stands. And if they are gonna make an argument that way, then they should ban and start fining players for the Lambeau leap cuz a fan could get potentially get hurt that way.

$7875 is just over 1% of Taylor's salary this season so that is equivalent to someone making $50k/year paying a $500 fine. A little more than parking meter change.

The fine money goes to charity, not in the league's pocket.
