Sorry, but he's right. If you're going to dish it out, you need to take it too.

I have no problem with what Clark said and see no reason why he should rip his own teammates.

I too agree with Clark. He's a christain man who has issues with hippocrites. All he was doing was acknowledging a fellow defensive warriors football career and was blasted for it. That's where the response you're reading came from. Some even twisted it saying he was being critical of Ben which he wasn't.

I agree with Clark. There's a ton of hypocrites in this thread
http://thesteelersfans.com/forums/showthread.php?5395-Ray-Lewis-is-retiring

People defend Ben to the death but then call Ray Lewis all sorts of names. Even if Ray Lewis did what some think he did, it was a long time ago and people change. Ray Lewis is anything but a thug these days. The NFL needs more guys like Ray Lewis. He's the ultimate team guy.

So even if he murdered someone, "it was a long time ago and people change" is a valid defense? You've got to be kidding me!!

I agree, that's one thing that I don't forgive, thing with Lewis is, I don't believe he did.

@Shaner, you should keep those words in mind with Ben and I say that with no malicious intent or sarcasm.

I don't hate Ben because of what he did years ago (keep in mind, Ben's actions were a few years ago, not 13 years ago), I hate Ben because of the way I perceive him to be. The kind of person and player he is, on and off the field. I really don't want to get into it anymore than that in this thread because this thread isn't about Ben, but I don't hate Ben for what he did off the field years ago. I think we all know something happened. What happened only he knows. Now regardless of what happened, people do change over time, and it appears Ben has changed, although I think it takes longer than a couple years to truly change.

My point was that people blast Ray Lewis, call him names, but defend Ben. It's hypocritical.

Valid defence? Where did I defend what Ray Lewis did (whatever that was)? I said he's not a thug, because even if he did what some think he did, it was a very long time ago and people do change. It doesn't excuse or defend his actions at the time.

I agree with Ryan here. But the idiot Mark Madden had to chime in and called Ryan a bad teammate, a raven lover and an a** kisser. Am I the only one who cannot stand Mark Madden?

“@MarkMaddenX: Y wud Ryan Clark defend Ray Lewis at the expense of Ben Roethlisberger? Cos he's a Raven-lover, an ass-kisser& a bad teammate.”

Mark Madden will say anything to get you to listen to him and tune in.

The more controversial, the more outrageous, the better.

Very true Bobby, I wanted to throw Ryan's reply in here too
“@RealRClark25: @MarkMaddenX At least once show some intelligence. Compared fans feelings on both situations and the hypocrisy of those fans.”

Well you said "Even if Ray Lewis did what some think he did", which is murder someone, you said people should get over it because it was a long time ago and people change. To me that seems to indicate your feelings were that even if he got away with murder we should give him a break because it was awhile ago and he's changed. That is where I perceived your defense of Ray to be.

Never said get over it, I'm saying what he did 13 years ago has no bearing on whether he is currently a thug. People change, so even if he was a thug 13 years ago, it doesn't mean he is now. I obviously don't know the guy personally, but he sure doesn't appear to be a thug to me, and people inside the NFL don't think he's a thug either. People do change.

I agree with you about people being hypocritical. I don't know about what Lewis did. I do think he is best MLB I ever seen. I think Ben's juvenile
behavior is behind him now. I don't hate Ben, I just think he is over rated.

So many things wrong with this. At best, Lewis seems to know who committed the murder at the SB "a long time ago" at worst, he was in on it. How do you know that he's not still a thug? Is it because he doesn't look thuggish compared to Suggs? I know you don't live in Pittsburgh so how do you get more information about Ben in Canada than I can get here in San Diego? We get it, you don't like Ben. Fair enough. There's lots of us who don't like Ray Lewis!

What has Lewis done to show he is a thug? Is he guilty until proven innocent?

Liking a football player and respecting what they have done for the game are 2 different things.

As far as I know, he hasn't done anything RECENTLY to show that he's a thug. When you don't cooperate in a murder investigation by not revealing all you know, then yes, you're probably guilty of something. As for me, I just don't get all the love and respect that lewis gets. His first few years, especially their SB year, I understand the accolades. Since then, IMO, he would make tackles he was supposed to and make a big show after jumping on the pile of someone else's tackle.
For all you people that loved, respected, admired, etc. Ray Lewis, that's your prerogative. I'm just glad I won't have to see his pre-game "What time is it?" rant again

13-time Pro Bowler, 2-time DPoY and Super Bowl MVP. Nah, he hasn't earned any respect.

Well, I don't think any of us are going to be able to make another respect someone they don't. I am a huge Clark fan but this is a time that I think he should have just not said/typed anything. He would have to know that Lewis is, at the least, controversial to many Steelers fans. Why these players stick their necks out and "call out" the very fans that allow them to live their livestyles I will never know. Finally, if you really want to discuss what is "hypocritical" I think you can discuss how some fans here often say Ben should "just keep his mouth shut" anytime he says something but are fine with Clark ripping into his fan base. I think Ben has made some poor choices but I'm not sure I have ever heard him call out his fan base.
