I'm one of them. I could be mistaken but if someone were to do the research on it, I would think the results would be less then stellar for coaches that jump from college right into a HC position. I know, Pete Carroll, but keep in mind, this is his second foray as an NFL HC. The only other one I can think of that has done well is Harbaugh.

I agree, but things seem to be changing in the NFL. All of a sudden coaches are installing college types offences. Washington, Seattle, Carolina, SF at times, TB, and there's a few others, all run offences similar to college offences, and they're getting results. 10 years ago this would have been laughed at, but times do change. I think going forward we're going to see more and more college coaches finding success in the NFL

3 college coaches that I think will get a shot in the NFL sooner or later are Chip Kelly, Brian Kelly and David Shaw. Out of those 3 I beleive that David Shaw Will be most successful. JMO.

LOL! Well, you must have failed to read this later post in response to who I would choose between the two:
Nah, I'd stick with Tomlin. I get frustrated with Coach T as much as the next guy but I think he's a pretty good coach overall. I never have liked the idea of recycling coaches and like the Steelers' approach of finding a young, talented and hungry coach and letting him run with it. Tomlin needs to get this team turned around though. This is his opportunity to prove that he's an elite head coach and at this point the jury is still out.

I am very frustrated with Tomlin though and he needs to get this thing turned around quick. When we've failed to make the playoffs 2 out of the last 4 years with Ben Roethlisberger as our QB and our biggest rival in the division has made the playoffs for 5 years straight with Joe Flacco, let me repeat that, Joe Flacco as their QB then I think we might have a coaching issue that at the very least needs to be acknowledged. I hope Tomlin acknowledges that maybe he needs to tweak a few things to get us back on track! That's what GOOD coaches do.

Joe Flacco is the 1st qb in NFL history to make the playoffs his first 5 years in the league. I was surprized to hear that.
