If that happens I think we should move quickly to see if Norv Turner would be a good fit. I know he was not the best Head Coach, but everywhere he has gone as an off. Coordinator. he has done really well.

You know, the other day Michael Bidwell was asked directly about Todd Haley and he skipped the question, seemed odd since they have a good relationship. Maybe Haley has been their top choice after all and were just going through the process to see if anyone else blew their doors off in an interview.

Nah. Just make Ben the next Slash. Quarteback / Offensive Coordinator. Nobody else is going to live up to BA's standards anyway.

i hope he goes. i just dont think he fits well with Ben. we can all say Ben needs to just shut up and do what Haley wants, but it doesnt work that way. if Ben isnt buying what Haley is selling its not going to work.

saying Haleys system will extend Bens career is a copout. how about they fix the oline. that will extend his career.

I may be in the minority in that I thought that bringing in Haley was a bad move from the very beginning. Easy to say now (I know), but you NEED a good respectful relationship between a franchise QB and his coordinator. I hope Haley leaves.

I would be all for bringing back Chan Gailey or bring in Norv Turner. Both are great OC's and not very good HC's. I believe Ben would have a tremendous respect for either one.

i know this idea may piss some people off, but how about asking Ben what he thinks before hiring a guy.

While I will agree it's good that everyone is on the same page, IMHO you shouldn't be asking the QB their opinion. Do any of the other supposed top QBs in the league get a say with who their coordinator might be? I say asking Ben woul dbe handcuffing this team until he gets exactly what he wants. A good OC will be able to work with whatever the skill set the QB possess and build a game plan and playbook off of that. Look at what Kyle Shanahan is able to do with RG3, a QB with a rather unique skill set.

Look if Haley leaves it is his choice. If he wants to be a HC, then he should go when the right opportunity presents itself. That being said, if I'm him the job I want is probably San Diego or Chicago.

Philly doesn't really have the QB for him, neither does Arizona. Kansas City is close to signing Reid and probably wouldn't be an option anyway. Buffalo and Cleveland...really when have those ever really been good opportunities. Maybe Buffalo, but if you have to face the Jets and Patriots twice a year, it could be a short stay.

San Diego give you Phillip Rivers and Chicago gives you Jay Cutler with a really good defense. Like I said San Diego would by my first choice if I was him.

Now that being said, we must consider some options for a replacement. I think there are 3 options, or maybe I should say these are the 3 I really like. (also remember it may impact the Wallace negotiations).

    1. Norv Turner - not sure he couldn't find a HC spot somewhere with all the openings if he wants it.
    2. Hue Jackson - here is an offensive guy who is coaching special teams and assistant to defensive backs....? OC spot would be a promotion for him and back to something he does well.
    3. Randy Fitchner - he is my least favorite choice, but has some advantages over the others. First, I think Ben likes him. Second, he knows our current system and the transition would be less. Third, he did some good things in college in that role, will it translate?

The other question to be asked...is there anyone that Haley would like to take from our staff? We may be looking at more than just an OC.

Haley isn't going anywhere. No team will hire him as a head coach until he repairs his image from the stench of KC.

Why give him an interview then. Steelers hired him, jobs a job and if he has a good relationship with the Cardinals then what happened in KC means nothing.

It's a courtesy interview. I'm sure they're interviewing plenty of guys just to hear ideas on how to improve.

I understand that, TE, and no one would blame him for going for a better position. My point is that whoever the OC is, should this occur, Ben needs to lead by following. If he gets on board with the offensive gameplanning everyone else will follow. Enough of this criticizing the playcalling and passive aggressive behavior when he underperforms or throws crucial interceptions at critical points in the game.

An unfortunate bi-product of living in Rochester NY is I get subjected to all things Buffalo Bills.
I can tell you that there is no way in hell I would be happy to see Chan Gailey come back to Pittsburgh. I don't recall exactly when he was the OC and who the players were, etc but I do know that in his tenure in Buffalo he was stubborn and stupid. He did not utilize his most dynamic weapon effectively at all and came right out and said there system was what it was and its the way he has always done it.
I think we can all agree that a mentality like that does not bode well in todays NFL. I understand an OC is going to have some offensive philosophies his system centers around, but you have to adapt to the roster and you have to exploit the opponents weaknesses as they are presented every week.
I know he wasn't the OC, but as head coach he had final say and a lot of what the Bills offense was built around came from him...glad its leaving Buffalo and praying there is no scenario it comes back to Pittsburgh.

Norv Turner would be my selection as the new OC. He's a very laid back coach that's QB friendly. I think it could work well. BTW, I think Haley gets the job in Arizona.

This is the one area that still gnaws at me about this, the whole reason I never wanted Haley here to begin with. But in the beginning of the season, Bens jersey was clean and he was putting up good numbers so I thought this could work. However if things aren't good between Ben and Haley (and we don't know this) then its not going to work. People can say Ben needs to get on board and all that but if he's miserable running this type of offense then I hope Haley gets the Arizona job. The OC and QB have to be on the same page.
