    Ray Lewis

Ray Lewis has announced his retirement at the end of the season. Great LB, would have loved for him to have worn the Black and Gold.

I think he is done, but he made it public to motivate the team, and to put himself in the spotlight. I liked the way he played, but at the same time I hated him. I wish he'd take suggs and Ed Reed with him too.

While he was a Raven....and at times we all hated him....you cannot deny his passion for this game and how he played it. The league will miss him for sure!

For what he has meant to the city of Baltimore, the game, and the position of Linebacker I salute Mr Ray Lewis and wish him nothing but the best in retirement. It was an honor to watch you bring it week in and week out for the past 17 years. Our rivalry will live on but wont exactly be the same. You were cut from a cloth of throwback linebackers that the league no longer stands behind but benefits from and thats unfortunate but your stamp on the game will always be remembered by THIS Steelers fan. See you in canton #52 Steelers Nation Respect!

Absolutely! A true football fan can't deny how good he was in his career. If Lewis had been a Steeler all the haters around here would be singing a different tune

would loved it if he was a Steeler. he was everything you would want a Steeler LB to be. he was nasty, smart (on the field), and he will go down as one of the best of all time.

"Now, God is calling," Lewis said. "God is calling in so many other areas of life and my children have made the ultimate sacrifice for their father, the ultimate for 17 years. Whether it’s jump on the plane, jump right back, go to school, and I don’t want to see them do no more. I’ve done what I wanted to do in this business and now, it’s my turn to give them back something. It’s either hold onto the game or keep playing or let my kids miss out on times we could be sharing together. I promised my son if he got a full-ride scholarship, Daddy was going to be there. I can’t miss that. I don’t know if I could sit in a meeting room and fight with that war."

Yeah, he's dirty alright. I seriously think he gets hate from some on here for being a Raven. If he played for us you would have the same man crush on him that Ravens fans do. Deny that and it's pretty apparent that you have no self awareness.

That being said I'm glad we don't have to play him anymore. He's one hell of a linebacker.

As I have seen from several Skins fans today: Ray and London Fletcher have almost the same numbers, but Fletcher does not get talked about like Ray does. I personaly only disliked him because of the jersey he wore. I wish that jersey had been black and gold.

He was a stud. Much respect to him.

Thrilled he'll be gone. I don't think people understand what a devastating blow that will be to the Baltimore locker room. His leadership intangibles were immeasurable. They can't be replaced. Reed is soon to follow and it'll be nice, for us, to see two invaluable components of our rivals' defense gone for good. I've been waiting for this day to come.

I'm sure he is trying to motivate the team to "Win one for the Gipper". Too bad it won't work because they are going nowhere near the Super Bowl.

I deny it. You don't know me, so you have no business judging my, or anyone else's "self awareness."

He has made multiple threats against other players. There are more than one example, but the most obvious one, that made me originally dislike Lewis, was when he premeditated taking Mendenhall out. He said before the game that he would take Mendy out of the game. Then he broke Mendy's collarbone during the game, and when Mendy was down, he said "get him out of here, he's done." But I guess that's not dirty since he said all that stuff about his kids.

If a Steeler did that, I'd lose respect for them, just like I lost it for Ray Ray.

Lewis' hit on Mendenhall was perfectly legal whether it was intentional or not.

Did you lose respect for Harrison when he said his goal is to hurt players?

You would lose respect for a Steelers play for throwing a legal hit? Who cares if he said he was going to knock him out of the game, the fact is it was a legal hit.
