It was definitely horrid. We were one game from making it though. I'm gonna remain optimistic and say that we will be back on top next year. Just cut some of the dead weight and retool some areas.

You really don't know? Let me count the ways for you:

    1) Defense inability to hold the lead early in the season
    2) Fumbilitis
    3) Ben didn't throw many Int but when he did the were very costly
    4) Swiss cheese line
    5) injury bug
    6) drops
    7) coaching
    8) uninspired play
    9) Offense was pitiful down the stretch.

Is the picture clearer now?

Just looking at the teams that will draft behind us is downright depressing....

And we had the number one ranked defense and we still didn't make the post season.

I really think the biggest problem of this past season was that there was absolutely no leadership. Not from one single player that I could tell stepped up to be the true leader. I think letting Hines go one season too soon did actually make a difference. Everyone can say that he may have been too old to play the position but I will not be convinced that he couldn't have filled a 4th WR position and have had a positive impact. Our team got soft real quick.

We also won the Super Bowl in 2008 with the hardest schedule.

Looking at the teams that beat us but draft ahead of us is even more depressing.

I would also add "bad luck" to the list. This team was only 5-7 plays away from being 14-2 or 15-1. There was some HORRIBLE officiating in some games, and some near misses in others. I wouldn't use officiating as an excuse, but it certainly contributed to losses in some close games. The bottom line is that the Steelers need to clean things up so that so few plays do not contribute in such a huge way toward the ultimate end of the season.

Your right, it's sad. But thats what happens when you play down to teams, and this is the NFL anybody can beat you any sunday.

Look back to 2008 we had the hardest schedule in the NFL. We went and won the Super Bowl. Give me a hard schedule anyday of the week, if you do well in the regular season, then your battle tested come playoffs.
