Buy or Sell??

The Steelers beat both the Cardinals and the Patriots with a healthy Kenny Pickett at QB.

 

Buy for a win versus the Pat's. Maybe closer game but a toss-up against the Cards.

 

I'm buying. Mitch Trubisky is that bad. If Pickett stays in during the Cardinal game, the Steelers were on track to win an ugly game in the 4th quarter, in the same fashion they had been winning previous games.

The Patriots still would have put up 21 on the Steelers D. But with Pickett at QB, the offense could have again squeaked by in the 4th, even with some of the coaching gaffs.

We honestly might have won both games with Rudolph. Mitch is one of the worst QBs I have ever watched in a Steelers uniform.

 

Buy it though I don't feel any better about it.

marginal improvement over how Trub played won’t have impacted either game.

Pickett is not that much better than Trub.

Pickett has scored more than 1 TD only once this year. He can't even crack 200 yards more than half the time.
Without the defence scoring, Pickett isn't putting up many points at all. I don't know what people are seeing in Pickett that gives them such optimism, but I don't see it.

I do think Pickett is better. Trubisky really sucks. But I still haven't seen enough from Pickett to make me think anything would have changed. You can't trail in games and expect a 4th quarter come back. That is not a sustainable recipe for success

 

I should never had assumed we'd be 9-4 right now. I thought Pickett and company had a decent game (for what had been seen so far) against Bengals and my hopes soared. I actually thought we'd be fighting for the #1 seed with 4 to go. Most on here study NFL way closer then I do but IMO Pickett is no NFL starting QB.

Our offense looks like it could be decent with our RB's and receivers but it really needs two things, a CENTER and a legit starting QB. Still not throwing in the towel on Kenny and I'm pretty sure the Steelers won't either. Just like next year is huge for our country, it's going to be huge for future of Steelers.

 

I agree with you but your post made me think of Ben R. He had tons of 4th quarter comebacks but he may have been a tad bit better then Pickett

A "tad" better, and if you look at his career progression, the 4th quarter comebacks dried up as time went on. It's not sustainable. There's a reason teams with the lead usually win. I remember a stat from last year. The Cowboys were 195-0 all time when entering the 4th quarter with a lead of 14 or more. I know that's only one franchise and it's a 2 score lead, but I'm just saying, it's not realistic to continue to expect 4th quarter comebacks. We'll lose more than we win in the long term.

Not that Kenny has been a world beater, but it seems that the pulse of the team is generally better when he is at the helm.

Since Mitch took over, the whole team is playing like crap even on defense some how.

I can’t stand on any firm ground with this team.

All positives have a huge amount of luck and all the negatives seem deserved, earned, and obvious.

They made me eat a lot of crow this year and my hopes of much to look forward to next year are dashed.

I’ve worked for companies that have made seemingly bad decisions that nosedived into a downward spiral and this feels like that. Easy to forecast and not a mystery.

This off-season needs MASSIVE wholesale changes or I’m going to start feeling like a Browns fan must have for so long. Yuck!!!

 

The Steelers are averaging 16.2 pts a game now. It's gone down from the 18 they were previously at. Although I do think Pickett is slightly better I don't think the team particularly has that much confidence in either one. Its a sell for me. I say they still lose both. Kenny wasn't particularly lighting it up in the first half of the Arizona Cardinals game and is an historical slow starter. I think the games would have went exactly as they went.

See.. I disagree with this. Pickett is for sure no gunslinger. What he is, is a game manager with an incredibly high football IQ. He protects the football and seems to get better as the games go on. If you can combine that with solid defense and a kicker that barely ever misses, you can win an awful lot of games.

 

Sell. We lose at least once, maybe both with Kenny at the helm. We gave up over 20 points in both games, and that is a number that Kenny has struggled to get to for his whole career.

 

I both agree and disagree. He is for sure a game manager, but he doesn't have a high football IQ since he basically can't read the defense pre or post snap. I think his football IQ is actually the main limiting factor of why I think he sucks. He certainly protects the ball well, but I am not sure that he "gets better as the game goes on". He's had a good run of being better in the 4th quarter, but his play in the first 3 quarters of the game for most of his career has been so unbelievably bad that he would be benched by now if he didn't have a couple of flashes in the 4th quarter. How many games in his career has he thrown for 100 yards or less thru 3 quarters? Its way more than it should be. I think the 4th quarter Kenny thing is more of a fluke than anything.

 

I apparently lost all knowledge of the game. KFP a game manager? LOL oh when will the blinding madness stop? You also probably believe he is just as good as Ben? These 3 qbs couldnt find water on a beach with Tomlin leading the way.
Also, very hilarious you say he has a high football IQ!!! Never knows where the blitz us coming from , cant read a zone defense ,i cant make this chit up.

I want to say buy, but probably split. What many are not seeing just looking at how much he scores....is He doesn't turn the ball over. When playing a ball control ....field position type games as we have on all our wins....that's the next best thing to having in a Qb outside of scoring like crazy. LoL. Most here are not acknowledging the times Trubisky put the D automatically in a bad situation. So I realistically think at least one win, and maybe with luck two.

 

Wheres Chuck Noll when you need him? Better yet, Bradshaw could probably come out of retirement and play better than the qbs we have. Im done arguing about 3 horrible qbs. But. This one doesn’t suck as much as this one, hilarious.
